Straightpipe a GS-R?
I was wondering if it is possible to straight pipe a GS-R. I plan on getting a 4-1 DC Sports CC Header and a USDM Type R exhaust. Would I need some kind of downpipe of some sort to replace the CAT?
More importantly, would this make power on a NA car? And if it does, would it make power in the low, mid or high range? Any suggestions? Thanks!

You could always measure the cat and get the piping to fit. You will have to make the o2 sensor inserts. and weld the rest. I'm sure if you go to a muffler shop they can make you one to. Just requires some welding. Make it a bolt on application tho. so you dont have to worry about removing it.
With a little work you can get it to look just like the stock connections. Might need to heat up the metal and forge it a little to allow it to slide over the header and ghasket evenly.

A high flow cat is much easier unless your good at welding and forging. Its not hard if you know what your doing. But for someone that does not own an gas welder will have to go to a shop and pay. If you are a daily driver then go High Flow. Less hassle. You wont be annoying as you rev and you wont smell like methane.
I think for sure you can get a nice High Flow Cat for around $180 or so.
Random Tech or Carsound are the brands most people buy. make sure you get a direct bolt in application because you dont want to be stuck with it welded in.
Also in CA its illegal to have a High Flow Cat unless your car is I think 5 years old or has 50,000 miles on it. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not sure if that goes for other states that do smog inspections.

i just installed a res. test pipe on my gsr sounded great then uped the piping 2 1/2" now i don't like the way it sounds to loud at low rpm in rumbles at high rpm it has a buzz to it tomorrow i am getting a 2nd 2 1/2" res. put in to see if that helps. if not i guess i have to put the cat back on. damn.
imo it has a little more gain than before.
