car idels up and down
I just bought a 96 ek, the only thing wrong with it is that the car idles up and down, with out me putting the foot on the gas, theres no check engine light , wanted to know if someone migt know whats wrong, and where can I find the part?
Need a bit more info.
Does it happen when the engine is first cranked?
Does the car have to be warmed up to operating temperatures before it idles funny?
Does it slowly go up and down or do the rpms slowly climb to 1200+~ then quickly fall back down to 700~ rpm, making it sound like a heartbeat or so?
You can always try tightening the screw on your trottle body, will help calm down the idle if its not a vacuum leak.

More likely the TPS sensor just needs to be readjusted.

Problem could be your fast idle air control. Locaated under the throttle body, held on with 3 small bolts. On the inside it looks like a black ring tighten that up and start the car aand see what happens. My car did the same thing it would jump like 500 rpms
A test to see if it is FITV or IACV:
Cover up one of the holes in the tb with your finger while the car is idling. I think the top hole is IACV and the bottom is FITV.
If the top hole coverage makes it idle normally, it's the IACV.
Same goes for the bottom.
This and the fact that when I unplug my IACV it idles normally has me convinced that my IACV is bad.
