lightweight civic hatchback....how light are you getting them?
just wondering how much weight you are all taking out of them by completly stripping them. i mean dash, full interior, ac, ps, everything but the glass and drivers and passengers seat. thanks. i read about 1500 lbs with an h22 no driver. so i was thinking about 1600 with an ls vtec w/ driver.
I think its alot more then that. Our hatch is striped and cut up with lexan windows and weighs more then that. I would say around 2000 at the least but maybe Im wrong.
the stock hatch weighs 2108. you can easily get another 300 out of there with all the interior peices. with lexan windows i bet you could get it to 1500. but that is why im asking...

oh man if your right then i need to rethink some things. i was hoping to get 500lbs total out of the car
Might have been with me in the car but I am sure it was without me. If it was with me I weighed 260 lbs back then which puts the car around 17xx lbs. If we get the car back soon I will reweigh it again just to be sure.

i dont think you can get the car that light unless you create a tube chassis and skin it with fiberglass. Some of the best ways to lose weight are lexan, replace as many panels with fiberglass/carbon fiber, cromolly frame with no extra/excessive tubing, strip absolutly everything out that isnt needed, very small fuel cell, half battery, remove inner door panel metal, remove factory tar, and replace as many steel components with aluminum.
ok, i think some of you dont know what i mean. i want to make like a full out drag car so a friend and i are going to be taking out EVERYTHING. by the interior i ment like some of the metal panals that are not structural ill take out. everything that doesnt need to be there has to go, dash vents etc. eventually it will kind of be like a go cart
your not goin to get 300lbs out of the car. my car when it was a street car weighed in at 1980 no driver, fully gutted with gutted dash, no accessories and no bumper supports.

i think 2000 with the driver is a realistic goal. Take pictures of what you do and then repost here in a few months. If you want to get really crazy...weigh all the parts you take out and report the weight back here. Have fun.
well i dont want to mess around with anything structural. ill do the most that i can. the car is going to be bought from the wrecker as a total loss so i dont realy care about it.

so around 1980 then
