Gas lens for a #17 torch. Your local welding supply should have one.

This is probably my only regret for going with the Lincoln 185 versus Millers equivelant 180 machine. I was a mere day from purchasing the Miller online when I went to a local Lincoln dealer. They sold me on the extra 5 amps (whoopee) and the pulser feature. At the time, being I had never TIG welded, the pulser sounded like something I should take advantage of. Not to mention the Miller cost about 125.00 more. Only downfall I see now is the Lincoln doesn't seem to offer a gas lense option. Is this because my torch is air cooled? Anyone know of a place to get a gas lense setup for the Lincoln 185?

Yea TIG torches are pretty interchangable. They have a common numbering system, 9, 17, 18, 20, etc.

So are you saying that the Lincoln torches would be able to use a Miller gas lense setup? The welding supply told me that my Lincoln machine could only use a gas lense with some crazy expensive conversion kit or something. Only thing that gets me is the welding supply store is full of a bunch of guys who don't even weld! I had to explain what a gas lense even was.

Yea a Miller 17 torch is the same as a Lincoln 17 torch.

Bastards.........

Honestly though, I don't see why my circumstances reinforce your liking for Miller. They just merely expose that the shop I go to, which is now a Miller dealer as well may I add, doesn't know **** about nothin. Gonna get me a gas lense setup for sure now.

I don't think the gaslenses are made by miller I think they are just universal threads for those # of torches. Cause I think mine are Weldcraft gaslense for a number 17 torch. So I don't see why it wouldn't fit in your torch too? I don't think diamondback is a miller company either and just supplies miller with their torches.

Oh and I saw the gaslense "kit" on ebay for really cheap(lense and different size cups)...well cheaper than what I can get at the welding store just incase you wanted to know. But I remember someone saying on here that the cheap gaslenese don't flow like weldcraft lenses or something like that.

Oh that 185 is a good machine so don't get down on yourself as I have a miller and I still think the 185 is a good buy.

I have the 185 all of the torch parts are 100% interchangeable with my miller.... I went out the other day to get one of those magical gas lenses.. picked it up for 8$ and 4$ a cup... I used it for like 5 min than took it off .. too big and bulky ....
