Default *** PR3 ECU/Trans Question***

Ok I had my crx swapped at a motor shop, and I had them swap an OBD1 B16a2. But this is the first time lookin at my ecu, its pr3, and I have an s21 trans, and ive looked at trans charts and it says its usdm trans only. So my car isnt OBD1, and I dont have a jdm trans do I ? ?

1st off b16a2 engine is obd2..Maybe you mean the b16a 2nd gen in the 92-95 jdm cars..? And also the pr3 ecu comes in both obd0 and obd1 form..And for the tranny Im not sure,,becaue Ive scene the s21 in usdm delsol b16a3 cars..But also have a friend who had me swap in a jdm s21 tranny into his bubble..So Im not completely sure about the tranny..

Also my car redlines at 7600 rpms on an autometer tach, but on the stock cluster looks to redline at 8, ive check this out with 2 diff autometer tachs and they both redlines at 7600

Ok check out the pics I just snapped, This is stamped above my header PR3

Here is just a shot of the b16 stamp

And the injectors, they say kia *HIN logo* HIN(import show). So what kind of injectors are they.

why does my car redline at 7600 rpms ? ?

And why would I have an S21 trans, like that guy said it was from an a3, and the chart ive seen says s21 is USDM only

and my ecu doesnt have an led blinker, and my check engine light popped on so how do I check the code ? ?

Thanks for the responses and helping me out

see No blinker

its an obd1 pr3 ecu, not to common, sounds like an automatic ecu. Or if ther is a check engine light it will run in limp mode and not let you rev up to 8k

What obd1 converson harness do you guys have? Some have it where you jump a certain wire and the cel in the cluster will blink..

Your motor is from H motors online it says it next to the B16A code, call up Andy give him the serial number off the block, he will search it and find out if that tranny was sold with your swap as far as ecu, Im not sure mine is a OBD 0 PR3 and I have a light

ok for 88-89 there is a service connector on the drivers side on the top where the fenders at its yellow with two wires jump those to wires and your gonna get your code, for 90-91 its in the same place as 92-95s in the passenger kick panel right under the dash board same thing connect those two wires and thats how you read codes for a 88-91 with obd1 conversion

the conversion harness probably has 2 wires sticking out of it that dont go anywhere. you probably have to touch those together. with my jkobd conversion harness theres a blue and a orange that sticks out, and if you touch them together then it will flash the codes with the CEL

pr3-j51 is a auto trans ecu because the j51 part. any second sequence over 50 for honda ecu's is a auto ecu, so unless it has been converted it is probably looking for an auto trans lockup solenoid, and is throwing the code so you cant hit vtec with the code being thrown. to fix it since you have a manual, you either need to get the ecu chipped to ignore the auto trans lockup solenoid, or you need to just buy a new stock pr3 whose second sequence is lower than 50.

does hmo usually ship out automatic transmissions ? ? Also ive been able to hit vtec, it just stopped working a couple days ago, and this is probably why I cant go past 7600 then right ? ?

i dont think hmo does any auto tranny stuff, but i am not sure. if you hit vtec with that ecu, then it probably isnt a result of the CEL then, it might be you are low on oil.

There is no question that is a 2nd gen jdm B16. They were found in 92-93 integra's, as well as 92-95 civic's as well.
Your ecu is definitly from the Integra, as it was the only car to use an obd1 Pr3 ecu. I have one myself. Cosed can be checked by using jumper wires under the hood on 88-89 civic, or 90-91 civic which had it under the dash. When this is done, the engine light flashes on the instument cluster.

It is possable the combination they sold you was an auto unit, so they just swapped the tranny with something they had lyijng around.
