Shotpeened and reconditioned LS rods
P30 pistons- brand new
Hastings chromoly piston rings- brand new
ARP rod bolts w/ rods resized
cylinders honed
crank- fully balanced and blueprinted, polished
acl rod/thrust bearings
OEM ITR water pump
OEM ITR oil pump
OEM ITR timing belt
All new seals, including rear and main
Tuning:
Apex'i VAFC
OBD0 B16 PR3 Ecu
Future mods:
Skunk 2 Stg. 2 or Rocket Motorsports m22x cams
Aftermarket Intake manifold
Convert to OBD1 w/ P28 and uberdata/chrome
AEM Wideband
SMSP header
Plans:
I'm going to be towing it to the dyno for the break in and tune.
At which point, I am going to tune the air/fuel, and cam gears.
Hoping for 190 whp w/ full that tune. Then, hoping for 210 whp w/ cams
and full tune. Then hoping for 225 whp w/ new manifold
and header and full tune.
What do you guys recommend for oil? I live in CT and I will only be
driving this vehicle during the spring/summer months which get to about 90 degrees
on a normal day. What weight/brand/ and syn/non synthetic do you recommend?
I have always sworn by mobil 1 products, but not sure if i should use syn or non syn
for the break in. I don't want the motor to burn oil, and alot of honda peeps that do burn oil, switch to the castrol stuff. I am going to follow Jeff @ import builders advice for proper engine break in technique. Thanks in advance.

well there are mixed opinions on here as always.
but the general consensus is to use straight 30 weight non synthetic, not detergent oil.
That sound about right? I was going to put that in, start the car up, let it heat to operating temp. Tune idle to 14.7:1 a/f. Change the oil/filter. Pour in 30 weight again. Then tune the a/f ratio to 14.7:1 all the way up to 4k and under 50% throttle. Run under 50% throttle and 4k for 20 miles, while varying the rpms and load upto the stated values. Do that for 20 miles. Then change it to 10w-30 Dino oil. Tune as follows:
50-70% throttle: 13.5:1 a/f ratio
70%+ throttle: 13:1 a/f ratio throttle and Run up to 500 miles. Oil change w/ dino oil again to 1000 miles. Then mobil 1 10w-30 synthetic after that.
Sound about right?
