How come crower cams are not in the most wanted list?
I've been searching and noticed that most of you guys prefer skunk's, bc's, jun's or m22s. But is there anything wrong with crower cams? Am thinking of putting it in my JDM ITR. Maybe 402 or 402a's. What gives? Any info would be highly appreciated.

Can you keep me posted once you tune it? I would appreciate feedback on them? BTW, why did'nt you go for the 402a's?

people dont like them because they used to break....they dont do that anymore because they use a new blank...i have broken a pair and now i have another pair that has been in the motor for almost 3 years

I bought mine used and got a good deal on them. I can tell you untuned they idle near stock. You definitely can't hear that I have cams by listening like on a V8 for example.

The 402a's have stock honda primary lobes and will idle stock and have no problem with passing emmisions but there is no way they will have the midrange power the the 402's will have IMO the 402 is a better choice. Dan

crower is a good company and they were the first copanyt to back the forged crank for a honda motor. I had a friend who was running 403s and they broke he just called up crower and he sent em back and they sent him the fresh "new blanks" fre of charge they have good custmer sevice

Thanks a lot guys. So they are not that bad after all and in fact, good or decent. We don't have a lot of choices over here. The tuner sells them so maybe I can get a better package when he tunes the engine.

I definitely agree that there is more to an engine build than just cams but for my needs right now, I think they will just suffice. Maybe down the road, I don't know how far, 84mm pistons?

the 402's are nice cams. i wouldnt go for the 402a's... the 402's do not have a bad idle.. and i would want to make more bottom... so if you get them opt for the regular 402's..

Just dont get their Ti Retainers. I saw a set 2 weekes ago at a local shop that broke from normal use at 4000rpm. They dont have enough material where the springs are seated. I looked at them up close and it was maybe .05" thick. Not good

I wouldn't condemn Crower Ti retainers because one broke.I've used several sets with no problem and there must be thousands of sets running fine out there.

Exactly. Also where those cams custom grinds from crower? I dont think they were the 403's.
I do see why everybody could make all the newer improved cams we've seen lately and still base them off a JUN profile if the crower was making more power.

If you saw what I saw then you would think twice about it. I was a machinist for several years and seeing that there was only .050" of material between running good and disaster was scary from my perspective. Also, most people seem to think that titanium is stronger than steel and it isnt. Titanium is 90% as strong but 50% as light. You use titanium for weight savings not strength!
