stripping the suspension to put in ES kit.
got everythign else off except the lower control arm end which is connected to the ball joint.
cotter pin and castle nut is off... anything i might need or am missing to get this off ?
according to manual it should pull straight off once the cotter and castle nut are off

They have a special tool designed to remove the balljoint, but you run the risk of tearing the boot with it. There is a method that is more often recommended on HT that has cleaner results.
Either way, its somewhat difficult to get that lbj out, and in my experience its never just come right out, especially if its your first time pulling it.

No way, get it back on the car its easier that way (at least, thats what the HT method calls for).
IIRC, and don't quote me on this...

Insert the handle of a ratchet wrench into space "A", and then push down on top of the hub with a lot of force (like step on it). That should seperate the LBJ from the LCA without much trouble.

Trust me, the rachet method that PIC showed you is the BEST way to separate the lower ball-joint. Too bad that's the only ball-joint it works on...
Takes all of three seconds to do, and works every time...

I use a long piece of thick walled pipe.. stick it though and go under the jack point, then the other end sticks out from the front.. i push on it, and get someone to tap the side of the joint with a hammer..
