usage: daily driver, auto-x (SM)
rates: don't know
comments: ride is a little bouncy, and its pretty much due to the bigger wheel and tire combo. rides nice on a smaller wheel and tire combo

Rates: 400/F - 400/R
Car: 2000 Integra GSR
Comments: Rides stiff, but acceptable. Springs too weak for 3" lowering, I bottom out on pot holes.
Those complaining its too bouncy with the shocks on full soft, should stiffen up the shocks. The Konis only adjust rebound, and not enough rebound will make the car bounce after each bump.

Usage: Daily Driver, autocross
Rates: 380/F - 450/R
Car: 1990 CRX Si
Comments: A little stiff for the streets where I live, but I never adjust the settings. Great for autocross, with a little more air in the tires.
Add what kind of car you're driving too, 450lb springs on a CRX are different than 450s on a DC5.

Setup: Koni 8041 (OTS valving) @ 1/4 turn from full stiff in front and 1/16 turn from full stiff in rear, Ground Controls set at conservative ride height, full OEM bump stops, 205/50-15 RT-215 on 15x7 @ 34f/31r, 225/45-13 A3S04 on 13x8 @ 37f/35r, DA Integra 22mm front bar, stock Si 15mm rear bar, -2.0*f/-0.9*r camber, -0.08"f/-0.02"r total toe
Usage: daily driver, autocross (STS2/CSP), HPDE
Rates: 500/F - 600/R

Comments: You guys are pansies.
I need more camber.

Setup: Koni Sports, GC Sleeves, Comptech rear bar

Rates: 400F - 500R
Car: 1999 Civic Coupe
Comments: Dropped very low to get camber that I need, and absolutley punishing ride on city streets (and most of the crappy highways) in the northeast. The car just barely drivable as a street car; which might not be the case if I lived somewhere else.

#1 (previous setup)
Setup: Buddy Club Racing Spec Dampers
Usage: Street (daily driven)/Track
Rates: 540lbF/380lbR
Car: EG
Comments: Not too bad, the shocks are the worst part of the package for daily driving. Those spring rates were actually pretty neutral with an ITR rear sway bar and a GSR front sway bar. If your roads are really shitty, I'd avoid these only because you'll probably blow them out (like I did). On track they're pretty good, but I also wouldn't call them the best.
#2 (current setup)
Setup: Todd Reid's old Ohlins something or other
Usage: Track only
Rates: 850lbF/975lbR
Car: EG
Comments: Absolutely appalling for street use. On bridge joints on the highway, I'm airborne. Literally. If your streets are baby-butt smooth everywhere, they could work. I also have to be pretty low, since there are fixed height adjustments, not a threaded shock body, so that has it's own problems that aren't directly related to this particular suspension. On track though, these things are ******* AWESOME. Definitely an Ohlins fan for life now
As a sidenote, since these are so unstreetable, I've been running stock ITR shocks and springs for daily driving. While the ride height isn't all that attractive, it handles VERY well and drives very smoothly and comfortably, but still with plenty of sportiness.

Comments: A little bouncy on the street, but I'm working on shock adjustments to smooth it out now. I think I may be running into the bump stops up front, so that could be part of the issue. Rotates nicely with the ITR bar.

Stock sway bars.
OTS Koni Sport
400F / 500R
Verdict: ride awesome unless road is ****. LA roads = ****.
Looking to put the 500's up front and do 600's in the rear. Upgrading sway bars as well.

Setup: KW Variant 2 coilovers (rebound adjustable)
Usage: Daily Driver
Rates: 350lbs/in progressive Front - 450lbs/in progressive Rear
Comments: The progressive springs are very comfortable on the street, the dampers do a great job of absorbing bad bumps and irregularities in the road. I haven't been able to tack the car yet, nor have i played much with the rebound.
Edit: 09/26/2010
I just played with the rebound a little bit and turned it all the way stiff and it was noticeable firmer. You can turn the **** 1 3/4 rotations so i'm calling it 7 way adjustable. I had it on 6 (1 being soft 7 being firm) and it was very firm but still controlled, it is not bouncy, it's firm, i love it. I have it on 2 now since the roads here suck and its just a daily. On 2 it's very forgiving and much smoother than 7.

holy crap this is an old thread.... I'll still bite.
92 hatch.
previous setup: Tokico Illuminas, Neuspeed Race springs, DIY extended tophats, 24mmF/22mmR sways. LOVED this combo on the street, but the progressive springs were way too soft when it hit the track.
current setup: PIC select (550f/550r), 24mmF/23mmR sways - not a favorable long distance driver but fine for in town or shorter (<2 hour) trips. Took some work to get me happy and comfortable... as well as perform on the track.

Stock shocks,
Skunk2 slip on coilovers 650lb in front 350lb in rear
99-00 si front sway bar and lca, 13mm rear sway bar. Energy suspension sway bar bushings and blox adjustable endlinks.
It is my daily driver.
Overall it is deffiently not that bad of a ride, comfort wise allthough it deffiently could be improved. Im am pretty happy with how it handles however i will be soon upgrading it to.
Koni/gc or koni/skunk2 or i hope amr. I will be going with 500-600 in front with 350-400 in rear. Keeping si sway bars, adding function7 subframe brace. 3 point front strut bar( i manly like how it looks) pic hard rubber bushings and 205-50-15 dunloops

koni sports and ground controls, 500F/450R with 19mm rear ST bar that attaches at the shocks. similar overall stiffness to the ITR bar
uses: street - lap days, would take rear spring up 100lbs for aggressive autocross that demands rotation. as it sits 500/450 is very neutral and i can make either end go depending on what i do with the wheel and pedals. shock valving is just off full firm in the back and about half in front. half in koni sports means barely over soft. these shocks change the most in the last turn. ride height is roughly a 2 finger gap with 205 50 15s. any lower would start slowing the car down on the street due to loss of travel. always run the front toe;d out and the rear in. tried every alignment setting you can think of and am sold on the front out and rear in. for autocross i would probably run a as much as 1/4" out on each side. on the street it's just under 1/16th on each side. rear between 1/16th and 1/8th depending on how stable i want it. i absolutely HATE the car at zero on all 4 corners.

Old thread but it needs some modern DC5 love.
Setup: Mugen N1 dampers at 2 of 5 at the front with 5 being full stiff. Rears at 2 turns out from full soft with 7.5 turns being full stiff. Ride height set at around 335mm from wheel centre to guard at all four corners. 26mm hollow bar at the front and 22mm solid rear. Tyres are Hoosier R6 or Dunlop Z1 depending on what sort of event I am at.
Usage: Daily, HPDE, time attack
Rates: 780F - 1570R
Car: 2002 Integra Type R
Comments:
Ride comfort and compliance is surprisingly good and I have daily driven on these rates for a couple of years. The front feels a little underdamped over bumps at the moment so I will probably bump the front damper up a click to see what happens next time I make it to the track. I can't really fault the rates or the dampers I am using, great on track and pretty reasonable on the street. Anyone who says that you can't have a streetable DC5 chassis with track oriented rates needs to harden up.

Hands down the best thing under $600
1996 EK4 Hatch
Setup: Spoon Fixed Dampers and Progressive Springs
Usage: Mostlydaily commuting over crappy roads, monthly autotest events.
Rates: 352/308
Comments: Perfect road suspension, no maintenance required, sensible ride hieght, perfectly matched springs and dampers. Probably a bit too soft for most HTers.
