What spool for type R tranny?
I have a type R transmission 2001 USDM and I cant find a spool to fit it.
All I can find is GSR and LS, I assume the GSR will fit, but want confirmation
before I order.
Also has anyone had any experience with the Richmond Gear spool? It is cheaper than the Pro-drive. Or even the TCI spool?

I love the circuitworx spool...fits right every time...we did a couple Richmond's and were not very happy. The customer had to machine the unit down and make custom shims!!!
Rob moore of Nitro driveline also makes a heavy duty spool that looks like a nice piece and fit well

Not to sound like Mr. Safety but i honestly would not use a spool, I had a axle break on me at the 1/8 mile mark and it ripped the wheel out on my hands and slammed my left elbow into the cage door bar, left me with 2 fracters, and almost a totaled car.
This was in a car making 730whp and was running consistant 6.8's in the 1/8 at 114.
But the advantage was that you are able to drive the car back with only 1 axle.
just a thought,
Brian

also you can convert the car over to a gsr spool using the roller style diff bearings, is what i am being told, i have the same tranny and want to install a quaffe, but io dont know what ring gear i would have to use since the R has a special bolt pattern on the diff, i am going to try to change the car over to a full gsr ring and pinion gear set, but i guess we wil see if it works when i try it.
I have received no straight answers from anyone yet.

Thanks for your input, so nobody makes one specifically for the type R tranny?
Wow, thats kinda weird, so i would need a spool ($500) bearings($80) ring gear($50?) anything else?

i use a richmond also. the first unit to come needed machining done to it also. i used it for a year just to make races. i eventually contacted richmond and they replaced it for free with a unit that didnt need machining. apparently the first spool i had missed a machining stage somehow.
