Motor swap question for a 93 Del Sol
I have a buddy that wants to drop a H22 in his Del Sol. Does it matter which year generation Prelude it is that goes in there? Has anyone does this so they can give me some more info.
Thanks

no it dosent matter...the exterior of all H22 is the same, just the internals is a little different..any H22 will fit fine, im having the same proble, i have a del sol and a prelude, i,m trying to fit the h22 in the del sol with a skunk2 intake manifold and a turbo kit..
Look into gettiung an adapter plate and mating a B16 tranny with the H22, since the H-series trannies seem to have a problem with 5th gear and reverse i.e: not being able to put into those gears once some part gets worn out.
You should definately do more research on the tranny at least since it is a known problem.

the biggest drawbacks to the H22 tranny are that it is cable shift, instead of linkage, and the gear ratio's suck. that's why people run B series trannies with the H2B kit. As far as losing 5th and reverse, that's no more likely on an H tranny than any other honda tranny.
OP, any year H will fit in the sol just like they fit in a civic. Get a good motor mount kit (Hasport or HCP) and you'll be fine.
