Engine build up....most power
I have a '98 GS and i need to get it faster. No matter what i am goin to do w/the motor im goin to rebuild some of the internals (like valves, valve springs, retainers, cams, etc.) but the question is, should i do a LS/Vtec conversion, or just put a turbo on my motor?
turbocharging is the most effective way to get power..
as long as ure not going crazy with the boost...stock boost to about 8psi is fine for daily driving..
like uve mentioned that ure going to upgrade ur internals..i say lets just turbocharge ur car..
shouldnt worry too much about reliability if u pamper ur car..

i'd have to agree. ive heard of too many problems with the ls/vtec and its alot of work and money for minimal gains. toss that money into a turbo and some internals and youll have a fast car. As far as daily driving goes....i dunno
youve heard of problems with the ls-vtec because they werent built properly or the owner wants to rev the motor up to 9k.
If done properlly a ls-vtec can last just as long as a turbo ls even longer, and will consistantley make 190-200 whp and 135-140 lbft.
but who can resist a nicely built turbo ls? i suggest that you rebuild the block with stronger internals : Eagle rods, Endyn or je low compression pistions, arp bolts. with that done you should be able to run 15psi daily if you have the correct fuel management, ie hondata 2b, fuel pressure regulator, upgraded fuel pump, 310 or 440 injectors depending on how much boost you want to run, turbo timer, boost controller. remember that with a turbo kit you cant just slap it on and run it cuz if isnt set up rite you will blow your motor and have alot of headaches.
reliable 200whp all motor teg? or a 225-400whp boosted teg? hmmmmmmmmmmmmm?
