Has anyone had a problem with this?? just curious.......
Has anyone with a COld Air Intake had a problem with water getting sucked up into their engine causing it to hydrolock? I am thinking about buying a aem possibly and just wondered about taht? and how common it is?
Thanks

It's rare--and it only happens if your entire filter is submerged in water (probably 10 inches deep). Unless you're in the back fields or really don't know when to avoid flooding areas, you won't have a problem. Doesn't hurt to drive cautious in the rain though, just don't drive around at WOT, even though that still won't suck enough water to get inside the intake manifold (just prevents hydroplaning
).

if you know the water is too deep you can just pull your intake off the TB... for a short period of time of course
Don't go driving thru large puddles and you'll be fine. I ran thru a good size puddle once, shut car off, went under the hood, removed intake -- no water that I could see or feel on the inside of intake. Filter wasn't wet either. We have a splash guard there to that stops the normal road splashs.
Oh yeah. I have a AEM. I would worry about it unless you drive thru floods.
