Default Anyone use bolts instead of studs on their intake manifolds?

I noticed that when I put on the hondata intake manifold gasket and the skunk2 intake manifold, there was not enough "meat" on the studs to get them super tight. They are on there now, but I would feel more comfortable with longer studs, or bolts.

Is there any reason why bolts would not work? I am sure if I had my motor in front of me I could answer this question by simply looking at the engine, but I am several thousand miles away from my car...

If you have to use studs for some reason or another (maybe bolts will hit the runners, or something), where can I get longer studs?

Also, would the length of the bolts matter? Instead of using the 3" or whatever studs could you just use a 1 1/2" bolt with a lock washer and some loctite?

when you purchase the outlaw engineering thermal gaskets, they provide bolts to use because of the same issue you are having. I have used them for two years with no problems.

I use RSX-S studs. I am running the Hondata I/M gasket sandwiched between two OEM gaskets, so I need all of the length that I can get.

Thanks for the replies, I will probably go with bolts, since the RSX studs will probably cost like 2 dollars apiece, from Acura anyway.

Why do you have it sandwiched between the 2 stock gaskets? Just curious because all i used was the phenolic gasket itself and nothing else.

I am actually using Allen head titanium bolts with titanium washers on my intake manifold. I will get some pics up. Frankly though, its not worth it--I am going to go back to the Honda studs....

Oh yeah, how many of the studs will I need, the motor is 5000 miles away, so I can't go look myself.
