If you already have and plan to run eagle rods, forged pistons are really your only option...I mean you COULD use oem pistons with those rods, but thats a hassle within itself.

Stock rods and p30's would be my suggestion.

I run CTR pistons on stock LS rods with 404's, etc... basicly what you have listed.

It starts making great power but the top end is just not there... I've revved it over 9k rpm, but power is dropping off well before 8k. I'd recommend some port work.

dam good to know, I'm guessing you have retainers and valvesprings also? have you gone to get it tunned?

With a stock LS head you probably wont see gains past against 8K. With Bigger valves, cams and port work you should be able to make power up to or past 9K. Seen it before on a B20.

But with the Rod/Stroke design of the LS or B20, the piston doesnt dwell at TDC very long, so eventually the piston is going to begin to outchase the flame leading to power peaking at a lower rpm.

I wouldnt say the LS has no top end, it just peaks at a lower rpm. What you said is like saying my B16 has no topend b/c it peaks power at 9K while my motorcycle peaks at 14K. Dont compare apples and oranges!

I have crower springs and titanium retainers.

I JUST got it back from the dyno and it made somewhere around 145hp with no cam gear tuning. I'll post up my dyno sheet when I get it scanned and whatnot.

crower 404's are a fairly big cam. i'd say CTR pistons alone are the least i'd do as far as compression.
