With flat valves, milled head and thin headgasket it will be sufficient. If you mill the head though and use a thin headgasket I would really check clearances when putting it together

16:6, huh?

That's 2.6666:1 compression. That certainly not enough to run the S2S2's...

Just kidding. But how the hell do you have 16:1 compression? What gas are you going to be running.

With compression like that, you need much, much larger cams that the S2S2's.

I sure hope you're kidding...

sorry yo i meant 10:6 typo can i just use flat face valves+thinner head gasket along with the dual springs and ti retainers? i heard some1 on this board says i need to raise comp at least to 11:5 to run the s2s2 perfectly.. is this true?

if you dont have 11.5 or more the car probably wont even start.

but seriously 10.6 stock is fine a bit more will just help make some more torque and hp.

or..since you have the 87.2mm stroke,u could use the ctr piston and u could easily yield approx 12.5:1 which is good for the stage 2..

First of all, he wants to AVOID a piston swap, and second of all, CTR pistons arent all that great

More important than the cr is the rest of the motor needs to have the breathing to keep up with stage two cams. Like a good header and big exhaust a big TB help too. I know a guy with 01 gsr with S2S2 cams with stock bottom end with all the breathing stuff including good head work and the car haul ***. Make the engine breath and it will work. Dan

good info dan people get too caught up in compression numbers, and forget what will really help them benefit the most

That is because cr is a easy thing for most novices to understand. Dan

Dan, I am thinking of putting crower 402a's in my JDM ITR. I was thinking of putting 403's. Will it be too aggressive? I am thinking of just putting a mugen head gasket. Will the head gasket be worth it? Or do you think I should go for the ctr pistons straight ahead? It will take three to four days to put in the ctr pistons which to me is a lot of downtime. I currently have a 5zigen stepped up header and a short ram intake.
