you need a punch of the same size,if you want it to come out easier. any other type of punch will work but you gotta get a lot of good hits with the hammer. and spray honda lube or some sorta of lube it should come right out. hope that helps.

Use a punch and a big hammer.

It will come out, just keep working at it.

I avoid the bitch pin like the plague, i prefer to never HAVE to take it out, but if i did, i would use a punch and hammer, and just keep banging on it, also i heard that you can use an ac compressor bolt to knock it out, because its just the right size, ive never done it but its worth a try.

WOw.....I cannot believe how many people have problems with this!

It takes me like 5 seconds to get this out EVERY TIME.

Just get a punch that can fit through the hold and pound on it with a hammer. About 5-6 whacks is all it takes and I'm a little guy

are you punching the right spot? from the marks on your picture, you are not punching the pin, you are hitting the joint. the roll pin is the one closest to the transmission case.

from the looks of it, you have been beaing the crap out of the big pin. You wanna be punching out the smaller pin.

air compressor- air hammer. 2 seconds flat. If that isn't a option, then go with a big hammer. And hit the pin that actually comes out. The one on the shaft from the tranny.

im surprised you havent complained of any slop in your shifting... a bolt causes lots of play in the shifter.

To the original poster, if you can... get your hands on an 8mm pin punch (i got a few from mcmaster). they work great!

If not, a crude way is to use one of the bolts that hold on the AC compressor, they have a taper in the end of them that fits nicely in the shift pin hole.

hope this helps

If you dont have a punch, I have used a nail before. you just have to make sure the nail is small enough to fit thru the sleve that the pin is in. and just wack at the nail with a hammer.. It does take some time, specailly if your laying on your back with the car on jackstands.

after looking at that picture it does look like you have been smacking the shaft that comes out of your tranny that your shiftlinkage connects to. I hope you havent that might be a bigger problem than not being able to get the pin out.

i use the ac bolt, that 12mm that holds the compressor to the bracket, they work great for punches, like 5 good hits and its out all the time. the bold is a perfect fit.

thats stupid. a trip to home depot would save your shift linkage. 1/4 punch is what you need. (8mm)

Use the right tool (punch) or make one from a short screw driver ( make sure the shaft is about the same size as the pin). Make sure you are hammering on the right one.
