F*$*&*% Idle
ok....my car wont idle...ever since I put in the F23 engine...it wont freakin idle
it goes from 1,000 to 1,500 rpms constantly...up down up down...blah blah
I had a check engine light, code 14, intake air control valve...i checked to make sure it was seeing power...then replaced it...NOTHING, same dumb ****...
sorry, I'm pissed...I have traced wiring everywhere...I have clue what to do

how does that relate to it? i'm confused..
I wired the knock sensor up to the ecu...*shrugs*

downright koo-koo i know, but a friend was changing engines in his prelude h23a1(blown)
h23a1(good) and the knock sensor was fried on the new one. The car would start, but wouldnt idle. (sound familiar?) He swapped out knock sensors and presto! It idled. Maybe it was an act of god, i dunno.
could be IAC or IAT. IAC=Idle Air Control Valve, happens on mine sometimes. Or, IAT=Intake Air Temp Sensor. most likely IAC though, or vacuum leak. check all your vacuum lines.

F22's also have IAT
its NOT the IACV...i just said i replaced it...
does it sound like it could be a vacum leak? i've checked the hoses 18 times...but the F23 vacum setup is way diff than the F22...
anyone have a 6th gen helms that could scan me the vacum lines page?

ok...as far as my problem...I really need to see a vacum diagram for a 6th gen 4 cylinder...
maybe i'll just stop by the dealer and take a pic of one under the hood...lmao
it anyone has a helms please lemme know

Fast idle thermo valve or something. I'm getting my F and H motors mixed up, as the placement of this valve is different on each motor. It just allows the car to idle higher when the coolant is cold. There should be a small hole somewhere before the throttle plate. The Helms says with the engine on, this hole should be under vacuum or suction. If not, replace fast idle thermo valve or something.
Eh, nevermind all this. I'll quote the Helms when I get home from work.

i replaced the throttle body (the fast idle thermo valve is attached to it on the F23) so I don't think that is it...
i had it hold rpms around 600 once...but it felt like it was going to die...i was messing with the vacum lines...so I'm pretty sure thats what it is...but I couldn't figure out much more than that.

My car was doing the same thing, and when I read and reread through my Helms, it seems that the problem may be due to a heavy electrical load. So what does that mean? Either a faulty electrical connection somewhere or the alternator. When I have the stereo on, and my lights on, and I come to a light and let the car idle, that's why my idle will start fluttering... I just never got around to actually finding the source of this nuisance...
