Dilemma....spend the cash on ITBs or go with reworked stock mani/big tb/ and velocity stack
As the time grows near to drop my old H22 into my new dc2 chassis I am faced wiht a dilemma....should I spend the extra cash on the itbs (and go DP with the juice) or should I get a reworked stocker with a big tb and nice velocity stack? Do you guys really think the extra 7-800 dollars is worth it for the itbs. Ive really been scratching my head about this for the last month or so and i cant decide.
And yes, my setup can handle it....11:1 CR, crower 2bs and valvetrain, hondata, ect. ect.
PS-its not daily driven, so you can consider it a 1/2 track car and 1/2 play car
Please help!
itb's for two reasons:
midrange AND throttle response.
The added bonus is that they are just sweet as HELL - the sounds are just incredible.....

i agree so sweet and i have never seen a manifold maake as much power as itbs it just akes senses four cylinders four tbs
Hmmm, i was thinking about it a while back. But lately i have realized how much money i blow on car ****. I spent like over $12,000 on my car last year. So now i am a little biased to being smart on a budget. I say save the money, go with the manifold setup. I just got a motorcycle for 800 bucks. I can't believe how easy it is to spend so much on a single part for a car.
that's why i'm also spraying this year. Budget power.

well, if you really think about it, non-itbs may cost close to the same if you dont have anything..(ie. lets say you buy a OEM ITR IM: 200, Big TB:250, porting the manifold: 500, Velocity stack and arm: 90) will cost about $1040. You can get some TWM for about $1300 or so. Not to mention the misc. stuff like injetors, fuel rails or whatever else is needed that did not come with what your buying. Not too close in price but in the same arena, Defiantly can be done without the $800 price difference.

LOL, yup you can never beat that sound on a All Motor car.
I actually just came back from the dyno, so of course i have to brag....235whp and 158tq SAE on a 2.0L with Ported S2 IM and 68mm TB with Velocity stack. But i do wish it had the sound of the shop's car that had ITB's

the full race and AIR intake manifolds are about the amount youll spend on ITB's...
I say just do the manifold. A properly made intake manifold,tb set-up and intake CAN make as much power as itb's....if they are built correctly and suit the motor properly. And Itb's are expensive...if i were to go with an itb set-up i would not get twm's i would get jenvey's.

no one is mentioning ease of tuning with the manifold setup. Saving money aswell there unless ur doing all the tuning urself.
Im also with rjay on the be smarter with your money. (if u are on a budget that is)
Not sure if u got the juice yet (u were saying DP) but if u dont have it yet u can take the money u save and do a direct port setup on the manifold.

we were running a ported manifold last year that made only 4whp less than our twm's on the same motor. the manifold is now for sale if you're interested? i will post up some pictures once i get them uploaded. peace!!!

Well, budget is kind of an issue, but not too bad....I wasnt aware of the full race IM for an H22, but Ill look into it. I already have a single fogger Ive been running for along time, but making some lines up and buying a couple dist blocks isnt that big of a deal.
Id like to see that IM that you got for sale too. Im not trying to make ultimate power, but I am trying to get the car into the low 12s if I can....
Thanks for all the input!!!
