Are Civic and CRX headlight wiring harnesses the same?
Here is the deal. The other day I went to replace my alternator. Disconnected the battery but noticed I didnt have the time to get the alternator out of the car. So I put it back together and went on my merry way. When I got back into the car I turned on the headlights and the passenger one was dead. Pissed off because they were new bulbs I still had the driver side one working and headed home.
I went to work today got there no problem. Had to drive over an hour away to a job site to take pictures and got in rush hour and was back over an hour and a half later in the day then when I usually leave. I dropped off the work van and got into my car. Started her up and turned on the headlights, not working at all. The corner lenses lit up and the highbeams work but the normal low beam lights dont.
Pissed off thinking the bulbs were both blown now I rush to a local parts store because it was getting dark and got new bulbs costing over $50. Got the bulbs and installed them in the car. Tested them. They worked. I was happy. Headed on home. On the way home the headlights died again.
I get out of the car and check the fuse and its alright. Then I hear something. Like a gurgling sound. I get the flash light and look down. My battery has pretty much exploded. Somehow I missed this when I replaced my bulbs earlier. Dont ask me how I did but I did. I quickly run in the garage grab my tools and remove the battery. Instantly I see as the acid drips on the drive way it burn and bubble. I remove the tray and pour it onto the side walk and watch it eat away someone's gum wrapper. It was cool to see but pissed me off. I took the light and looked down and there was a hole in my headlight wiring. The acid ate right through that ****.
So ya does Civic and CRX headlight wiring harnesses the same? I need to get one obviously and replace my burnt up one. Its for an 88 DX if that matters at all. Im pretty sure that they are the same but need to be 100% sure because I dont want to waste my time screwing around or spending money I need.
Thanks

Why not just cut out the section of the wire thats melted,,then put on some new wire and solder and heatshrink it?? Then put alittle electrical tape around the whole thing..Thats what I did,,the previous owner of my car hacked up all that wiring for some reason..

I can get a DX harness for like $15 and then just splice it that way instead if screwing around with my melted one. But if worst comes to worst Ill just do it like you said. Im just trying to find the simpliest way to do it.
