Default H22. Smokes and sounds like a wrx

The motor was rebuilt 5000 miles ago. I did a oil change a week ago and put cheap spark plugs in the motor because i need an oil change right away and thats what I had at the time. So tonight a S2000 started reving on me because he had his wife in the car so naturally we go at it and of course he has that look of surprise as I start to pull car lenghts on him. After that my car started smoking and was sounding like a wrx. What could it be? I didnt over rev or misshift the car just started running like *** and smoke coming from the exhaust and entering the engine bay? Any ideas?

My guess would be a blown headgasket? maybe too much oil?

There could be several things that could have happened. you could have had detonation in th engine and caused damage to the pistons and /or have a spun bearing and causing a knock on the motor. Floated a valve and hit the piston resulting in bent valves.

Like stated before, it could possibly be a couple of different things--I know you said you didn't misshift or anything, but the symptoms you describe do sound like a possible (couple) bent valves......

I would check your cam timing first, maybe your belt jumped. How high were you reving because valve float is a possibility as well.

COmpression test it. My guess is bent valves or a piston rings gone. Happened to me along time ago in my old prelude. Sounded like a WRX too. Turns out i cracked a ring.

Could be a bunch of things, but not bent valves. Bent valves wont smoke.

Could be a cracked ringland, could be a spun bearing, could be your rings decided to fail, could be a headgasket leak, could be an oil seal somewhere...there are a bunch of things that can make your car misfire and blow smoke.

was the smoke blue black or white? did it smell sweet or like burning oil? and check your dipstick for coolant.

Compression test your motor, i can almost garuntee that its a cracked ring in one of the cylinders.
