Default rotas, whats the deal?

so i've been around the honda scene for some time now, and i personally don't see the problem with rotas. why are they so hated among so many jdm enthusiasts. i personally love the look of clean and jdm hondas as my ej1 follows the style, i also love the look and style of the mugen rnr's, mf10's, the spoon SW388, etc. but myself and many others like me can't really afford the real deal. i think that they do a damn good job of letting us average joe's have a nearly identical look for much less than half the price. so inform me on why they are such a no no among so many jdm honda enthusiasts.

I think people hate on them because they are cheap and the best way to be cool is to have things that're too expensive and/or too rare for many people to have.

don't let the jdm ppl scare you away from buying rota's. i'm all for rota rims. there cheaper and nearly identical, and unlike lips there isn't a fitment issue here. i can understand why ppl like to have the real thing but i also don't get why they tell ppl that rota sucks.

oh yeah man they don't scare me away, in fact im a proud owner of a set of rota group-n's, or rnr replicas, and i love them. i just don't get why people have to hate on a good thing, i do see why you would want the real thing but if u can't afford it, it's not like you're settling for something ugly, it's the same, with a different name. also like u said, no fitment issues here, on body parts i see more important reasons to buy the top of the line products like mugen, seibon, c-west, etc. but if u can get something that looks great for 500 bucks, there is no reason to hate on em.

No that is a WRX at a trackday. I would say for the same price, Koseis or Buddy Clubs would be the way to go.

I've seen this in more than one case. Not just from rota... but your "Name brand" wheels too.

People work hard to get what they pay for. They try to be unique by buying parts that are more rare. It feels good to know you earned and bought a quality part for your car and will be respected for it. Then Rota comes along and makes one's hard work futile because they make a copy that everyone can buy. People with Rotas are getting as much respect as people who work harder to get the real deal.

But I'm not too woried about it. Its like cutting your stock springs to lower your car versus buying springs. Your car might look nice but your only hurting yourself. It just makes me a little mad that people with group-n's get equal respect and aprreciation as me who worked hard to get real RNR's. Thats just my two cents. Argue if you want to; I don;t really care.

I don't really have a problem with them since they are all some people can afford. Hell I was considering picking up some as my daily beater wheels. For any kind of track use though I would recommend a stronger forged wheel =S

see i think u misunderstand me, if i could afford them i would much rather have the real deal but i can't im only 17 years old, in high school, and get paid 6.30 an hour after almost 2 years of work at my first job, believe me i work just as hard to get what i can and rotas are what i can afford right now. if i can aspire to getting the real deal then i most definitly will. im smart and am going to be going to college so i hopefully can one day be like u and many others and get the real thing. but for now, im happy, and i dont think that people should show as much negativity torwards the average joe. i dont buy cheap **** for my car, i do things the right way, and rotas don't seem to bad to me for now. i wish u luck with ur car, and i dont want to argue with u over something as petty as this especially when i completely see ur point.

even tho theres no tech in this i will say this.. some people buy the jdm stuff for the amber this & that and some people just spray paint bulbs or what not orange to get the "effect". rotas are fine, they work, right next to the fake polo and tommy shirts.

hmmmm I wouldnt give someone with rotas the same respect as someone with real rnrs the same respect they are two totally different things. one is light forged and just "oh so JDM" the other is cast heavy and cheap. but as the quote in you sig says PICK TWO. it all depends one who the respect is coming from.. I give two ***** what the lamen thinks..

For example, I could have gotten some cheap ebay coilovers and slammed my car the first week I had it, but I want the real deal and have just been saving for almost a year to buy a Tein Super Street Kit. I know it will perform well and will last for god knows how long, and that is why people spend the big bucks on parts. It's all about patience really. You can have anything you want if you are willing to save for it
