Interesting problem here
Last night i started my car up to leave college and go home and it's pouring down rain like crazy. I start it up and i noticied that the engine didn't turn over right away like it normally did. It took about 3 seconds with the starter till it turned over. So okay i thought, so i pull out of the parking lot and come to speed bump. I slow down and slowly go over and then hit the gas mildy to go up the hill to get of the college. Then the car just hesitates and then bogs and quits. The lights and radio were still on, but after trying it again and again, it just wouldn't start. The starter is running and the battery ain't dead so i call to get a ride.
This morning me and my dad go over to look at it and tried to so the problem. First thing is that we take off the dizzy cap and the rotor is still attached. Then we looked at the cap and there is alittle bit of oil sitting on the inside of the cap on the bottom. We thought that couldn't be it so we try to start the car and the rotor is spinning so the timing belt is not broken. We then check the intake and it is getting fuel. Even sprayed a little starter fluid and it wouldn't start. Checked to see if there was any spark in the plug wires and sure enough there wasn't. Checked all the fuses and they were all fine. Main relay is kicking over as i can hear it clicking and humming when the key is inserted. The entire dizzy was replaced about 8 months ago. What could be the problem here or what should i start looking at else where?

probably dizzy related, look at the coil and see if it is burnt looking inside, and look to see if all the wires are still on the ignitor, was it reman or new? if reman they usually only replace whats bad so it could have come with an old coil or ignitor
also is it throwing any codes?

Yeah, we got the dizzy from advance auto parts and do recall them saying it was reman. Just by some chance, would that little puddle of oil that was in there could've done something to it?
i'd say dizzy related as well, take a look at what happend to my old one

there was some oil in the cap before it happend, the rotor shaft wiggled slightly, but i let it go and figured it'd last a couple more weeks till i could afford a new one

The oil puddle was that big, maybe no more than a dime, but still. I think we didn't replace the seal when we replaced the dizzy so that might be it but i think tommorow we are going to check to see if the ignitor and coil are working okay. Any suggestions on what else to look at?

We checked the coil and it is giving a weak spark somewhat. I would've thought that the coil would give a bigger spark than that. We also found some black stuff on the caps coil contact part. There was also some blackness around the coil itself inside in the little round hole. We scrapped what we could off both parts but car still won't start. What should i do here?
well, stopped at my local advance auto parts store to see about my warranty on my reman dizzy that i bought last summer and it was a lifetime warranty. So i just took the whole dizzy back and they replaced it with another one. But as i was giving the lady my old one, i looked at the dizzy to compare it with the new one and i noticed that the wires that are somewhat sticking out of the ignitor were chewed up. So how one of the ignitor wires got caught on that rotating shaft inside and chewed it up. I believe that was the problem, but don't quote me as i still don't know. I'm going to put the new dizzy in right after i typed this so i'll tell ya what happens next.
Success! It turned out to be the dizzy. Put the new one in and just got back from a little road trip to see how the car is. It's running strong and no signs of sputtering, except for one time which was the first hill i was going up. Guess it needed to get all that extra fuel out of it's system since we tryed starting it alot to find the problem.
Thanks guys for your help.
