2 cats
no.
the cat is the strangely shaped tube closer to the engine. the strangely shapped tube closer to the rear of the car is the exhaust resonator. it makes the si exhaust sound better. im not sure if it was on dx or std models.
2 cats wouldnt work anyway, because it would take a year for the second cat to heat up to do anything useful.

All models have a resonator. But the car really could have two cats. This is common on STD HBs. These cars have a close-coupled cat from the factory. And when this goes out, it is EXTREMELY expensive to replace (a universal weld-in replacement won't work). So many people deal with this by banging out the brick from the close-coupled cat and adding a cat under the body in the conventional location.

good point, the standard hatch and the hf crx do have a non standard cat, so if you are referring to one that hangs off the exhaust manifold, and then a second one further downstream, then that would be the setup storminmatt is talking about. i didnt think of that.
