Default Can anyone diagnose this D16A6 bogging problem?

Hey guys what's up. I'm looking at swapping a 1.6 motor in my car this summer along with converting to MPFI. I scored a 91 SI trans recently so all I would need is a longblock now. I have two options, one, buy a SOHC ZC longblock for $400 with 30 day start up warranty or two, build my own block. This would be my first time "building" a block and I think it'd actually be pretty cool.

I have the opportunity to score a free D16A6 longblock (head and block only, no intake/exhaust manifold, starter, dizzy, alternator, etc.)

Here's the description I got from the seller:

xxxx:u want a working one? i have one d16a6 for FREE im not sure whats wrong with it coz i swapped the engine coz when i bought the car it only starts up when its cold then it would run but when it reaches normal temp you better maintain the RPM like dont make it lower than 2,000 then if you went lower than that engine dies and wait for it to cool down for it to start again

If I build this block I'm wondering if I can use some of my DX parts on it (e.g. starter and alternator)

Any feedback I can get from you guys would be greatly apreciated. I'm trying to make the most sensible and sound decision for my car

That problem doesn't sound like a problem with the actual longblock, so as long as you build it with the right parts and wire everything correctly you should be alright. Oh, and make a thread about it, lol

Lol, no prob bro.

It sounds like the problem is in something to do with the wiring or the peripherals. If it were in the actual block you'd see like smoke and **** plus it would run like **** all the time, not some of the time.

possable IAT or ECT problem. Maybe even ignition timing or a clogged injector. Doesn't seem like a mechanical problem.

But i think the block would be sound. You'd have to check it!
