Default SUNROOF LAGGIN!!!!!

I got a 92 hatch Si, and my sunroof doesnt always open by itself. A lot of time i have to use my hand while i use the other one to push the button. Has anyone else had the same problem?? I'm thinkin bout takin it apart and rebuildin it. I was wonderin what you guys use to lubricate the rails it slides on? Silicon oil? grease? etc?? I would like to know what you guys thinks. Thanks, PEACE!!!!

Sounds like it could be the motor, those things take some abuse, plus it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to clean out the track if you replace the motor, but it is probably not going to be a fun job, the headliner is going to have to come down a substancial amount if not all the way out of the car. Mine is about to go out, so I am trying not to use mine as much as possible.

idk if u have ever taken off your sunroof but does it run on hydraulics?

When i took off my headliner there was a bunch of sopper tubing around the sunroof made me think it was hydraulic

The tubing is for the sunroof drains. It is electric.

Mine hangs sometimes. I would say hose it down with WD-40 to dissolve all the old ****...wipe it out/clean completely, then white spray lithium grease.
Let me check the Helms....

it just says "apply grease"

interesting with the WD-40 idea.....I think I am gonna have to try that first.
I have the same problem and i have used so many different types of greese, and they all seem to end up back where I started.

i used bearing grease and like he said wipe it down first with wd-40 then make sure to put alot of grease.its important to make sure to get all of the rail. use a q-tip or something to get behind the sunroof arm. oh also make sure to do one coat of grease and move the sunroof back and forth.the coats you use the better lubed up it will get. its also a good idea to have someone help you so you can see where you missed. i used bearing grease just to see if it worked, and it did. but it kinda smells a little bit. so if you find something that smells alittle better. then go for it. but the grease worked just fine.

WOW im actually surprised on how many people also had this issue. luckily its been rainin and sprinklin in cali so use for the sunroof hasnt been to necessary but summers around the corner. and plus havin an si hatch means you gotta show off the sunroof. we have this thing called TRI-FLOW at my job i dunno if its good for that but i use it on scanner rails on copy machies, i might have to try it and see how it works if not try a diff type of grease. ill try it next weekend or whenever i have time, jus got home from Havasu. Jumped off copper canyon, and my *** took a beatin. it hurts. and for those who dont know what that is, it a cliff bout 40-50 ft high. but anyways ill get to it asap. not sure when. since they gave me a work car now so the hatch will be parked for a while. ill keep you guys posted. PEACE!

PS: if it works out cool then ill do a write up.

In about 2-3months at most your sunroof should be completely dead. I had the same problem in my old civic until it completely stopped working when it was opened all the way/

i've got this problem, but its on my integ. it just started happening recently (maybe its the cold weather?). when i open it, it opens all the way, but when i try to close it, it doesn't even move. i just hear a click. i have to keep pushing the button, hoping that it'll close, and it does. it's just a hassle. i tried wd-40, it didn't help much, but i'm gonna try that grease thing. let's hope it works
