Default Can I re-use the H22a Head studs????

I am replacing my friends head gasket and other things and was wondering if there is a big issue with reusing the headstuds. I reused them on my d16z6 and on the ls also. Just want some experienced people as this is not a big power build just something to make sure the car runs good.

you "can" reuse them, but i wouldn't recommend it. you may have gotten away with it on your other motors, but its just a safety/insurance kind of thing. would you reuse a timing belt when you replace the water pump? same kind of idea.

Get some ARP bolts and you can reuse those a few times. 70 bucks for OEM or 100 or ARP, his choice.

While we're on the subject what do you guys think about reusing main bolts?
The ones the hold the girdle/crank in place. My helms manual didn't say anything about replacing them when reassembling, but would like some peoples opinions.

honda head studs are not supposed to be reused. how do i know? best friend works at honda. you can reuse them but they have a good chance of stripping or breaking...just buy arp head studs!

</TD></TR></TABLE>why? they were torqued right? then there streched. and need to be replaced. the torque specs allow for streching thats why u cant reuse, cause they wont stretch the same and can strip, or worse yet, snap. if they're arp's then u can reuse them cause there studs and nuts, not bolts.

The reason why I asked was because I will not dissassemble that motor again. It is just to change the headgastket. My friend is not into building stuff just wants to change the gaskets. I will see about the ARP's which I initially recommended to him but Just wanted some feedback from people who may have done this already. THanks

I've reused mine more times than I can count. I wouldnt worry about it if its just a stock motor.

This year however I'll be using arp's... you can only be lucky for so long lol!!

Thanks for the info, I will just reuse as this is more of a stock motor that is not going to be pushed. Thanks again
