Default New CRX I have a few questions for you guys *Pics*

So i just picked up my crx last week now i have a few questions for you all. The heater and the ac dont work but when im driving the side vent on the driver side shoots out cold air, A/C cold air not just from outside and the the center vent shoots out warm air. The guy i bought it from said that he thought that the blower motor was bad. Does this seem like a good diognosis? And the moonroof will open fine but it doesnt like to close is there anything that i can do to fix that like get a new motor or is there anything i can grease up to make it move more smoothly. I have never had a moonroof and it would be nice to take advantage of that some time. The last and probably the biggest fix would be the transmission. The guy i bought it from did a b16 swap but he kept the stock SI tranny. It shifts good for the most part but 3 gear grinds everytime that you shift into it when your going over 30mph. Its really not in bad shape for having 277,000 miles on it. Would you guys recomend a swap or something else. The only reason that im thinking about this is because i plan on turboing the car this summer and if i plan to put around 270-300bhp with the kit im planning on putting together i figure the tranny with 277,000 miles will be the first weak link in the car that i should fix. And here are the pics.

Thanks for looking people

The tranny you have is not a stock Si D-series tranny. I would say to rebuild it, a complete motor swap wouldn't be worth it. You could also buy another tranny and take the risk that it is good/bad and put it in there. Over all the car looks good.

I would search around on HT before you decide to go FI. JMO

I would keep it as it is. That is super clean.

look under the vent, there is a little black **** and it slides back and forth, one way is open and the other is closed, it just lets fresh air in, if you close it then it connects it to the rest of the vent system, i beleive open is to the left and close is all the way to the right.

ps your car so looks like mine lol, nice to see another clean rex not all riced out. good luck.

as far as your sunroof is concerned the switch is the problem i had the same issue with mine. Pull out the switch and clean the contact points with and xacto blade and reinstall it and it will work fine.

Clean crx too i just dont like the wheels

remove sunroof switch and carefully take it apart. look for the two terminals that activate the open/close function. use sandpaper to clean the contact points and reinstall. it's alot easier than it sounds...good luck with it!

I think the CRX is way clean. Although the look with the wheels are "played out" I think it looks pretty much like your average CRX nowadays.

For the sunroof, as other people said check the switch but also you might wanna check the rails, cause on my old SI my rails were F'd up. The vent on the far left lets in outside air, closed is to the left and open to the right(outside air). your 3rd gear synchro is probably bad, most jdm cable transmission go bad from 2nd-3rd. your best bet is just buyin another trans or rebuilding it cause it will eventually get worse. overall i'd say it's pretty damn clean

Don't use lucas in your tranny, syncromesh is way better and concidering it takes 2.5L maximum to do a tranny flush, spend the $30 and do it right.

I highly doubt you have the stock tranny, B16 trannies are known for third gear grind. The use the D series tranny you need and adapter plate, and it's hard to see but it doesn't look like you do.

Wow, I would have never thought of putting oil stabilizer in my tranny I keep forgetting it is just 10W-30, but it appears that is a bad idea. :-p And the Syncromesh is 6.99 at autozone only problem is where I live they never have it but if you can get some from there it is cheap. and well worth it, I had a slight gring going into 4th gear. . about 4 days after I put in syncromesh all grinds were gone and it shifts smooth as hell. Big for syncromesh.
