Default switching final drives

i am quite a noob when it comes to tranny's, other than just switching them out. my question is are final drives interchangable. like can you take a 4.400 final drive out a b16 or so and put it in a ls tranny? thanks for any help.

Yes you could a b16 final and the ls final is the same size of the ring so it will fit no problem. I did that to my tranny I got a ls quaife lsd in it and I swap in a b16 final gear and it work . The GSR final is different in the ring size.

The truth is yes and no. An American 90-91 LS integra s1 transmission has a defined shaft diameter size. This diameter is the same size as most JDM S1 shafts which means they can share gears. I on the other hand had an American 92-93 LS Integra YS1 transmission which has a different shaft size. Simply put my gears did not fit on the 4: 4 shaft I got from a friend. The guys at Speed Gear is a good place to start as they seem to be the experts in this area. Good luck.
