im going to have to disagree with that..type S has so much more power and torque.

gsr with i/h/e can definately beat a type s it just comes down to a drivers race. My 99gsr has aem cai, dc 4-1 header, smsp cat, apexi ws2 exhaust and it ran a 14.89@93 2 weeks ago first time at the track... It all comes down to the driver a type s is not really any faster than a gsr with i/h/e

^^^And weight.
I consistently beat my friends RSX-S (which had intake, and cat-back) in my 4 door GS-R. My GS-R at the time had an AEM cold air, DC 4-1 Header, Random Technologies Cat, and a Greddy SP2 cat-back. Oh, I had better tires too. My best run was a 14.74 @ 93.3mph. His best run was a 14.91 @ 92.4mph.

whats the other best thing after i/h/e and short shifter. I'm not that heavy i only weight 105 pounds so the car is light enough. I'm also gettin a new clutch in two weeks. I'm gettin ready to run him at the track against him in 3 weeks and he has a intake and header and a down pipe which is really loud and annoyin it sounds like a truck and he also hasa short shifter, he clams to run low 14s, i say he doesnt so we are gonna prove it at the track, i really need help because this kid is soo annoyin, come to my work and just rev it at me. any advice would help

well if i would was going to build my car for NA, i would start with teh basics first..I/H/E/IM...then move to the internals all at once......valvetrain and camshaft...soo you can just get it all over with one big install..and not have to rip apart the head just to get the cams in..then do it all agian later to get the valves and springs in......but most of all..GET IT TUNED!!!

After the basic bolt-ons, go with cams and higher compression. I used the word compression rather than pistons, because higher compression can be achieved by way of valves, head gasket, head shaving, and other means that do not involve rebuilding the bottom end. Building the bottom end is also a great possibility. If your goal is to beat your friend in a drag race, invest in getting off of the line. This could mean a set of drag radials, or something as simple as motor mount inserts. Frequent the drag strip regularly to better your skills. An after market clutch, and a lighter (not too light) flywheel will help out as well. The most important aspect will be engine tuning. Good luck to you.

the only type s he should be worried about being a big challenge would be the 05, my friends 02 type s, loses to my buddies gsr, with i/h/e and better tires, everytime they race, the type has a club rsx injen cold air and that is it
yes the type s has more power, but it also has more weight to factor in, and from a roll the type s's are nasty, but im not impressed with them from a dig

You're welcome a lot.
Let us know how things turn out. If your friend actually runs low 14's, do yourself a favor and get drag radials. Drag radials alone will improve your times significantly. Good luck to you.
