The Type R Racing/Clutchmasters team will be back in full force this season with a two-car All Motor brigade, along with campaigning cars in both the Sport FWD and Street Stock categories. Led by veteran sport compact driver Norris Prayoonto’s 2004 Honda Insight, the Springfield, Va.-based team hopes to chase the All Motor title in 2006. Saul Salveda will pilot the team’s 2000 Acura Integra. Jeremy Law will continue to call the shots on the team’s 2.4-liter Honda motors.
“Street Stock in a growing class,” said Prayoonto. “We are going try some new things to stay on top.” New to the team is Mat Keller, a veteran with turbo street cars, who will be racing in the Sport FWD class. Prayoonto has wanted to build another turbo street car ever since he sold his turbo Integra a couple of years ago. However, this time he is going to use the K-series engine instead of the B-series. “I think the K motor will be a new pace setter for Sport FWD” Prayoonto said. “We will have some bugs to work out, but once that’s done… watch out.
“We’re just going to come out and try and do what we did last season,” Prayoonto said. “Our goal is to make final-round appearances and go rounds and we’ll see what happens. It’s going to take 9.80s to 9.70s to win races and I expect (Jesus) Padilla and (Jeremy) Lookofsky to be very tough.”
“We were an excellent team last year, so why not do it again,” said Prayoonto. “This year we will run the full schedule to win the championship. It’s going be tough, but we are going to do our best to stay 1 and 2 in points. This year we have continued support from our title sponsor Clutch Masters, as well as R&D Dyno, CP Pistons, Hasport, Hondata and the Driveshaft Shop. We will also have extra support from Intrinsic Performance Solutions, Omnipower, Eneos (Nippon Oil), Quaife, Supertech Performance, NOS Energy Drink, Innovative Motorsports and ERL Performance.”

Good luck guys! Both cars looked strong at NDRA Phoenix. So the SFWD cat is out of the bag now.

truer words could not be spoken
think of people like lisa kubo, andrew yang, viet lam, myles bautista, jojo callos, adam saruwartari, marcos acosta, joel mandl, craig paisley, carlos gonzalez, dave shih, tony fuchs, steven thompson, john brown, jeff tirado, travis t, renee franco, mark fata, kurt gordon, eddie bello, peter yem, archie madrazo, junior asper, etc, etc, etc
all these guys are gone now and sport compact drag racing is still here
sport compact drag racing is much more than a few big names... it has always been a huge grassroots sport... i think a lot of people forget that
i love the prorwd and profwd classes... but its always been the sportsman-level classes that have always been the most popular in terms of participants... that moniker has just changed from the quick class all the way to the current sfwd and srwd
the names will change... but the sport will still be here
