Default Stock B16A2 cam question

I've got a stock B16A2 (99Si engine) with bolt ons. What cams would you guys suggest for this engine to get maxiumum power without upgrading the bottom end. I don't mind chaning out the valve springs/retainers but would perfer not to have to mess around with headwork. ECU upgrade is a given but I don't want to mess with the bottom end. Thanks.

you can run CTR cams witout changing anything and they will give you the best bang for your buck. it would be nice to get new springs but they aren't required with CTR cams. also 01 and 00 ITR cams are the same.

ctr cams! should be fine on the stock valvetrain as long as you keep the 8200 redline...i would rather upgrade the valvetrain, but...

correct but you should be able to make power alittle past 8200 so you should swpa valvetrain for the extra power and just to be safe.

i was thinking something more along the lines of aftermarket. I hear the buddy club III+ work pretty well with stock compression but everything i saw was on a 1.8L engine. Anyone know how well these work on a stock compression 1.6?

you're definitely going to have to upgrade your valvetrain with the bc3's there was a couple horror stories with the stock valvetrain. If your going with some bc3's, might as well bump your compression and all that to get the full potential of those cams...

Hey Ryan ***** CTR cams those things are worthless. If your going to go through the hasstle of changing cams and valve train get the Buddy Club Spec III's. They have about the same lift as Type R cams but way more duration for top end. They were actually desgned to be used with stock block GSR's which have 10:1 compression and your B16 already ahs slightly more compression so your set
I can get you a pretty good deal on them to if your interested, about $500 shipped brand new.
