well you can NOT just put the bulbs in your original headlight. you have to have other parts such as ballast, projectors, and bulbs....check out some other post on here and try looking at hid planet. maybe that will give you some idea of what all it takes.

I'm going with TSX too. You can't get much better than the TSX projector. It's the best for the money.

on hidplanet, they sell the following -

(2) Bosch Projectors
(2) Hella/Philips LVQ-212 G3 Ballasts
(2) D2S HID Bulbs
(2) Ballast Covers/mounts
(2) Ballast connectors

Price $399.99 + shipping

all you would need at that point is [A.] extra headlights (optional) [B.] a conversion harness (or make your own) [C.] and the skills do DIY

who said you have to cut the stock wire harness? I got a conversion harness from xenondeopot.com that allows you to just plug and play.. only cutting up would be to retrofit the HID projectors

if the bulb is 9006, it is not HID ... it is simple regular lights with more watts pushed through them to make them brighter than they need to be

Umm.. do you even know what the hell you're talking about? These ARE HID's. The "hid kits" sold by catz, etc. are TRUE hid's. They create hid bulbs molded into a 9006 shape so u can pop it in ur headlight. The ones shown in that link do in fact look real, just of crap quality. Unless the stock headlight has a half decent projector (which civics don't), don't waste your time w/ a plug and play kit. The beam pattern will look like **** unless you retrofit some nice hid projects (like the tsx) in the civic headlights.

i happen to think so

my TSX retrofit (still in the works)

if there isn't an HID projector involved, then it ain't HID to me

Good luck on your project first off, nice to see good retro headlights..

Anyway... just because you're doing a retrofit doesn't make you the hid guru. The kit someone posted on honda marketplace for ~$250 does use actual hid bulbs, w/ ballasts, etc. So technically, it does use real hids. Like I said though, it just looks like a POS kit. Catz sells 9006/H4/etc. hid kits which are pretty much plug-in hid's. They are REAL hid bulbs/ballasts, etc. These looked very nice on my old integra. The best way of course is to use a nice projector designed for hids for a perfect beam pattern, but sometimes these hid kits turn out ok, not great.

PNP kits are not worth money.
Do it right on first time, Retrofit.

Thanks bro for putting us out there.

Though, I realize that the forum is for the newer Civics here is a recent retrofit we did for a 2000 CTR headlights This is from https://honda-tech.com/zero...ge=36

Washer modded S2000 projectors w/ Custom Shrouds.
The daytime running lights is able to do it's job as well...look for the little hole/bulb on the side of the shroud...made enough room for it. Completely sealed and flush in the back...

We are in the middle of a 2006 Civic Si retrofit...I could send a link on this topic to the appearance forum once it's done.

Thanks

i'll have to agree. I hate it when people install HID kits with the the projectors. The lighting needs to have a cut off.
