Yeah...thats what i was thinking. I was just thinking that it may help down the road...Will it help preserve the paint job or its full color or make the paint just last longer...or is it just a waste?

Any of the dealer installed protection options are insanely overpriced. The undercoating they install on your car comes out of a can, the same stuff you can probably by from advance auto parts. The paint coating like other people mentioned would be no better than a coat of wax. Stay away from any dealer installed options w/ the exceptions of floor mats and mud guards if you think they're worth it.

I used to work for a dealership 15 years ago, and the paint sealant "stuff" was commerical grade (Granatize) and was better than any wax IMO. It would only be applied on the top half of the car (from the bumper, side door molding up) because that's where the sun shines (and to save $$$ too). And from my own experience on my car then, it only work on perfect new surfaces. So it must not have any cleaner elements. And it work excellent on high quality paint jobs like on a Lexus (worth every $), and looks like a waste of money on a Tercel.
Yes, it's good stuff. But it was all $$$$ for the dealership. I'm not sure how well the new Civics are painted. Back then it cost $200 I think. I recall seeing some report that to apply paint sealant cost the dealership $25 including labor.
P.S. I have own three new cars since then. And always decline the paint sealant no matter how hard they try to sell it. I just use wax it myself. All cars have been fine.

I'm sure it helps, but if I **** on the car and cover the paint that will help to a certain degree as well. The question is whether it's worth the cost, which is no. The warranty is probably not worth it either. It's probably something like 3-5 yr warranty, in which case I've never seen the paint go bad on a car, w/ the exception of a few bad defective nissan paint jobs a while ago..

We use Touch of Class, which is an interior and exterior protectant. $550 to get it applied, but did anyone ever think to ask for a discount? Our cost on it is pretty low

Exactly. In my 21 years of waxing my own cars, you can not go wrong with any brand cheap wax (as long as is safe). I would also add a good cleaner once in a while, and clay once a year. You should be golden.

yeah..im starting to feel that a good wax every month or so may just be the trick..it will add that "brand new" shine back to the car and probably restore the paint fully if you make sure to stick to waxing it every so often. I think thats what ill probably do in the end.
Thanks
