I just replaced the motor in my 98 GS-R. The old one had 112k miles on it and developed a bad leak in cylinder 2. I didn't know anyone who could rebuild it for me, didn't want to pay regular shop rates for that work, and I wanted to get the car back on the road quickly, so I opted to just replace the whole thing. The old engine is for sale to anyone who wants to put a little work into it to get it running properly again.

It turned over and ran when it was removed from the car, but as I said has a lot of leakage from one cylinder. It's for sale as is, with no warranty at all. Asking $400 for the head, $600 for the block, or $900 for all of it (or best offer). Need to sell it ASAP! Pickup in Brisbane, CA (south of San Francisco); I cannot deliver.

The block has been sold, the head is still available. Now that it has been disassembled, we've determined that there is a burned exhaust valve in cyl 2, which explains all the leakage from that. Still for sale if anyone wants to make me an offer.
