My drivers door has play like a bushing is worn. The door from the back end will move up and down while open. I have been looking on one of the many acura OEM online parts websites to see if I can find the part, and maybe it is part # 22 from the drawing?

E-RING 6mm required quanity = 4 $1.66 a piece.



Anyone have any experience with replacing this? Im pretty sure, that it could be adjusted to account for that, but I think that it is a worn bushing or pin.

 

my door has a little sag, will this fix it, im interested in knowin!

 

i ahve the same problem on the pass side.... a mechanic i know said it may be the pins are worn and then it needs to be realigned.....still havent done mine (lazy) but let me know what u do to fix it. mine sags low and u have to sorta slam it to get it up the sag and then closed..

 

I know that someone has to have some info on this! Especially us DA owners with our 13 to 16 year old chassis. lol

just loosen the bolts on the door then lift the back to where you need it and tighten the bolts. very easy, should take 10 mins with help. and its free..

that will not fix the problem with the hinge pins being worn. once they are worn out there will be play in the hinge until replaced.

 

well im not sure what pins your talking about. the hinges go out of alignment from people leaning on it plus its own weight and needs to be adjusted every once in a while.

the hinges shouldent wear out..

there is a pin inside the hinge that does wear out and does need replacement. i have removed my fender and realigned everything and it still sagged. a simple fix is to press out the old pins and press in new, or you could do what i did and drill them out and put in machined bolts with nuts and cotter keys. works like a champ

Do they replace the hinges if the car goes into the dealer with these problems?

 

when i had my first gen integra that was my problem, the driver side door would sag to the point i would have to lift the door just to shut it. i was 16 and i knew nothing about it at the time. till finally i really looked at it and the pin was really worn down, the hinges ate into the pins. so i went to the junk yard pocketed a few pins and replaced them and was good to go.

p.s. from what i remember doors are pretty heavy so if you decide to take them off have someone help or it might fall and mess something up.

i would like to see someone remove the pins from these hinges. i have tried it on my crx and they are machined in place. honda just replaces them. (100 bucks or so per door) i will do a write up here in a couple days for a permanent hinge fix.

 

you will need to drill/grind/cut/punch the existing hinge pin free and upsize the hole to accept a larger bolt.

alright i fixed my door. the hinge pin wasnt worn but the bushing inside it was. if you want to have a door that has play (movement up and down) then dont replace the hinges. all you need is to remove the fender,loosen the 4 bolts on the frame side of the hinge and use a jack to raise the door . once its where you want it then retighten and it will slide into the locking mechanism freely.
