Anyone got a clue what my problem is? i did a GSR suspension convertion last week on my 95 civic and all the parts i need to install was installed properly. I also checked my shocks and it was'nt shot at all... bushing are good and allignment/wheel balance was already performed. I already purchased the whole set of sway bars and all are installed properly also.. does anyone know whats causing this problem?? please help people!!

Was this at a track?

 

yup, i was in englishtown NJ last week for time trial.. it also happened in the highway.

 

1. stop doing it on the highway.

2. Did you notice any wind during the run? I would look at sway bar mounts as well as anything you may have left loose doing the change.

Edit: Look at the wheel lug nuts as well.

gonna be hard to ID a suspension problem if it only happens at 120-130 mph. most problems with suspension/balancing/alignment happen at 60-70mph.

i would check torque specs on all bolts, at the speeds you are talking about. also check lugs and tire pressure.

 

it was a good day and no wind at all.. all the things you told me to check was already checked!? what the heck is caushing this s-it!!

 

maybe a flat spot on your tires??

Stiffer shocks and springs to control the vehicle at those speeds.

 

what do u recommend? what kind of shocks and springs should i use??

Never thought about those speeds. I concentrate mainly on street setups.

Check the competition section, someone in there has got to have gone the speeds you are going.

 

could be a problem with aerodynamics... i havent noticed a problem with my car, but how does it feel? kinda light?

 

yup its very light... and the swaying part is happening on the rear suspension.. i could kill myself this way if i cant get it right!!

 

After I put a CF duckbill spoiler on my '94 hatch, I noticed a slight bit more stability(on the track, of course). Be sure your front toe is set closer to zero than toe out, if you're going to be at those speeds a lot(again, on the track, of course).

 

yeah... look into getting a rear spoiler and a more agressive front lip spoiler/airdam. how low is your drop? lower in the front?

 

sounds more likely an aerodynamic issue beside an alignment problem.

rear splitter/diffuser in the bumper may help.
front lip may help.
lower your car if possible.
stiffer spring rates may help too... ask around and see if you can borrow anyones springs if they are much stiffer... that will be an easy swap

 

well, my drop are 1.5 in the front and same thing in the back.. i recently just raised it due to the swaying coz i had it on 2" drop on both... by the way im using Skunk2 coilovers and Tokiko Blues.. also i have the rear spoiler and front lip in the car...

alignment?

 

ive got my front dropped to 2.75 and my rear is at 2.5... i dont know if you have coilovers, but try lowering it in the front and if you took off the plastic cover under your motor, put it back on cause it helps to smooth out the air flow under your car. are you planning on driving it fast alot, or just a late night run every now and then ?

what aero issues

 

Try a little toe-in on your alignment settings. It makes for better straight line stability.

I can see your car moving a little in the rear under hard braking at that speed, but not when you are on the gas.

Make sure your tires are rated for that speed, and make sure you know the warm/cold pressures.

You may want to try a rear spoiler that will add some down force.

Best bet is to ride with an instructor and ask them their opinion

 

Mine did the same thing with the tires a little over inflated in the rear.

 

Check your tires, what speed are they rated? Z? I? etc.? This link should explain to you the different ratings. I'm just guessing that it may be the tires. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...eral/speed.htm

 

are you running stock bushings in the rear? I can't believe the difference now that I have the ES Poly bushings in. Your problem could just be the compliance in the 7 year old rubber, which was never really that great even when it was new.
