performance tires...
Do not get Azenis unless you are a hardcore track racer.
I suspect you'll be very happy with the Kumho ECSTA Supra 712. Great price and great performance. If you want to shell out a bunch of money, the Brigdestone Potenza S-03s are nice

I'm ridding on 205/55/15 kumho supras... they are decent, and a good value. The threadwear is great on these things, 15k miles and I'm only worn halfway in the front, and less than 1/6 in the rear (they have 6 indicator measurement dots). Just rotated them a short while ago, so these will last a while.
Althou I really wish they stick better. w/ just a mild suspension upgrade (prokits/bilsteins) and stock brakes, the tires give up way before the rest of my suspension. I can peel out in first gear w/o even trying hard, lockup the tires easier than I'd like w/ the stock brake rotor/pads, and the tires squeal taking a corner fast.
My take is that if you want a good set of tires for a daily driver, get these. If you want total performance, look elsewhere.

eh, i need to get some tires too, the aqua treads that are'nt worn at all really but id like a lil more traction i think ill get some Falken Azenis, save the aqua's for the rainy season lol.
how much do Azenis run?

Tires have almost nothing to do with locking up brakes. Most tires wont help braking any better than almost any other tire.
Any tire will squeel if you take a corner fast enough.

Kumhos are not known for good launching. They are performance handling tires, not drag tires.

The reason why I think the kumhos are great economy tires is because they are made of a hard compound, better on life but not so great for traction. Stickier tires would definately have less tirelife, but better traction in general.
and I think that 205/50/15's might be way too small for an accord. I run 205/55/15 and they are noticeably smaller than stock, 205/50's might be too small (its a civic/integra size).

hmm... I was under the impression that the tire does the stopping of the car. The rotor/caliper/pad applies brake torque, and if the tires stopping limit is less than the brake torque applied, the wheels lockup before the car stops. Stickier tires should help w/ braking, shouldnt they?
What stops a car is the tires' surface area. The more rubber that touches the ground, the faster it stops. What I meant to say was one tires will not have abundently more surface area than another.
When people say 'sticky tires' they are refering to corner traction, and not stopping distances.

sticky tires refers to the compound of robber of the tire
to me), and how one specific tread pattern wont stop a car significantly better than another. Unless its some spiked off road tire with little surface area touching the ground.

Which in effect allows for better handling. Obviously it will have something to do with stopping distances, but how much of an impact can it possibly have? I also was refering to tread patern (

what you dont understand is that the tread compund is what give the thire its stivky frictional properties and this directly effects stopping, cornering etc... and the tread pattern only matters really in adverse conditions and the reason more tred is better is due to the fact that the tire contact on the road is not always flat you have deflection, and variances in effective force exerted on the ground and vice versa. SO please if i catch you trying to beatr someone over the head with half baked and flawed info im going to have a feild day with you for everyon elses amusement
PLAY YOUR POSITION
I wasnt 'beating anyone over the head' with anything. In fact, after you replied, I was actually waiting to learn something because I know I dont know everything on this matter. Basically, if you can convince me my viewpoint maybe flawed, thats a
for you.
