I have a 1994 Integra sir with a b18c in it only have minor mods CAI, dc 4-2-1 header, and a muffler....i was racing the other night and my cousin told me whenever i changed gears i 1)smoked and fire came out of my muffler, i am quite concerned u guys have any idea wats happening?

 

Have you ever had your car tuned? It sounds like it's dumping too much fuel into the exhaust...

 

You're running rich and you have a low restrictive exhaust.

 

it probably just backfired

I've had it happen before too, other then my old engine burning hella oil, it ran fine, but with a gutted cat.

yeah i got that same problem with my car too.....my cats gone...and i have a ITR ecu, my cat was still good untill i put my ecu in..after a good month..runnin too rich ate away at my cat.now i spit hot fiya!! and sounds like i have a shotty! its pretty fun to scare people with tho!.when i got to parking garages, i just bring my car alittle past 5k on first and left off gas...then pooooww!!!!!! set off all the alarms in the mall :-D

My advice, and it's already been said. GET TUNED!!! Get a VAFC, HONDATA, ect.... though if you thought you could turn down your gas, you may not want to get one of these cause you'll have the chance of making it that much worse. Anything you decide to do, READ up on it and be sure you know what you are doing.

I was running through a canyon with a buddy of mine. He drives a 1990 Supra with a Precision SC61 turbo, and a 3 inch exhaust from the down-pipe, through the test pipe, and out the rear of his car. No muffler, or resonator. My Integra gets hosed in the straight sections, but I push him through the corners. That was, before he shot a 4 foot long flame toward the bumper of my car while slowing for a turn. Since that time I am leery to follow him too closely.

Try advancing timing 2 degrees. You probably have a misfire condition, if advancing timing doesn't help then go to a shop and have them hook you up to a 5 gas analizer.

 

What does this gas anilzer do?

 

get invest your money into a apex fuel controller, and turn down your fuel on that, and tune it to your settings, you should be ok after that...

 

if its not affecting your mpg's let it flame. im trying to get mine to flame the same yours is. it does it when im driving normal but not racing hmmmmm.
