Guys, I'm fixing the hatch release on my 2001 ITR. I pulled the release mechanism out and closed the hatch. Now the key won't open the hatch and I obviously can't use the release mechanism .. yes I know, you can make fun of me later .. but now, I really need some help opening the hatch from the inside of the car. Are there diagrams of instructions I can look at ?? I creeped inside the car and I don't see a straightforward way of releasing the hook that secures the hatch. Your help is appreciated !!

 

did u pull the whole cable n everything or jus the latch

 

I pulled the actuator assembly with the metal hook that releases the hatch.

 

Couldnt you just pull on the lever that the metal hook attached to?

 

is the rear panel removed? if so you should see the release cable. Un hook it from this mounted postions and slide the sheath back a bit. get soem needle nose pliers and pull ont he actual metal cable. that shoud open it. jsut as if you pulle dont he trunk release handle next to your driver seat.

That was right on the money ... I didn't mention the rear panel was installed and that was a major slow-down in the process. I couldn't really remove the panel due to the pins up on top which are blocked by the hatch. I simply pulled the plastic up enough to reach the release mechanism.
