Default Crossing the Line: Hold out 3rd or shift into 4th?{BB6}

Hey guys and gals,
I cross the line in 3rd at about 8,150 on my tach. Should I just hold out 3rd gear, or do an uber quick shift into 4th? Which would net a faster time in your opinion?
MODS:I/s2IM/Header/TP/E/Hondata 185WHP. I have my rev limiter set at 8k...kicks in at 8300 on my tach.

You should probably just hold out in third gear. Reason being that your probably making more power that high of RPMs in third gear than you would if you were in 4th gear at the same speed+time delay due to shifting. This is probably true, but BTW when is your peak power made and do you have a dyno graph?

Defintiely run out third if at all possible. Doing so will net the fastest ET's possible.

i agree w/ that if you can. reason being, you may gain mph but loose e.t.

My fastest time was 14.678 @96.06 MPH. That was w/me holding out third.
Here's my dyno graph: You can't see the numbers, but peak power occurs at 7,500-7,600 RPM's. I cross the line at 8,150 and the 5th gen tach reads 300 RPM high, so...I'm at 7,850 when I cross the line. Sounds good, thanks for the help guys.
P.S. I know the tach reads high, because I have my rev limiter set at 8k and it kicks in at 8,300

Another plus about holding out 3rd: I don't have to worry about catching 2nd and blowing my motor

IMO if you ever came close to doing this, you shouldn't be driving stick. I don't know how you can possibly do that. 3-4 shift is as easy as it gets. If you are ending up in second (even though that tranny tries to kick you out) you are fucken retarded.

I would just hold out in 3rd either way. You still make power up there and even if your car would go better in fourth you would loose time shifting. Are you running LS tranny?

BB6 my man, that's the chasis code for a 5th gen prelude. I know a few people who made that shifting error, there not retarded. I think its because most people hold the shift **** on its side...i grip it on top so its a straight back throw. When you hold the shifter on its side, your elbow sorta wants to go closer to the 2nd gate. Just something I've realized.

I know somebody that did that, but he is a totaly shitty driver. Motor got blown to piece of course because he let of the clutch. I don't know I rip my car everywhere and I never came even close to shift from 3rd to 2nd. Personally I think if you are not retarded you shouldn't have this happen to you. And you will prolly pull off better times staying in 3rd. God damn those gears are long...

Preludes do have very wide gearing, not the best for drag racing. But there in lies the challenge

prelude gears are actually pretty short imho. in my h23 tranny which has longer gears then the h22 i'll be cruzing around 4k rpms at ~80mph in 5th gear.
