Default Driving Impressions: h22 EF's and eg's *owners chime in*

im going to be swapping a h22a4 into my crx. i havent ordered the mount kit from hasport yet but will be in the next couple weeks. I'm used to b series swaps and havent actually driven an h22 swapped civic/rex before. I just want something diffrent. could some of the owners chime in with the driving impressions of their h22a swaps.

thanks guys

although i don't have an ef i did have an eg and soon to be ek with the h22. the only downfall i don't like about it was the oil pan, trans and header were low so stiffen up that front suspension deffinately. not because of a weight issue, but because it's already low and if you forget about it you will be quickly reminded. other than that i love it and would not have any other swap. my one friend had one in his crx and it hauled ***!

I have only had the stock d series motor in a civic and now my swapped h22...I love the feeling without power steering and the torque is nice. And the oil pan and exhaust are low and if you forget like minimesleeper said...you will be reminded quickly.

The way the motor sits sucks, as far as axle angle and how low the motor sits to the ground. One way to fix this, is the H2B adapter plate...I highly reccomend

fun swap, the torque is the best part when just cruising, downshifting is optional in almost every situation. As long as i'm going at least 15 mph, I can just leave it in 5th gear and pull back up to speed. Also plenty of highway passing power in 5th at any rpm.

Yes I have..of course it's a great kit, when I used one in my EG it was cool, better than most, but I personally don't think it compares to having the H2B adapter plate, where axle angle is basically the same as a B series in civic, motor sits a bit higher, and it gets rid of the cables.

move the H swap around all you want in the engine bay and you won't find stock axle angles.

love my EG with H22 swap... have no problem with how the motor sits... just dont plan on driving with your car slammed to the ground, aside from that, be ready to do some serious labor on the swap, they have a great thread posted that assisted me, and enjoy!

I can see from 1 hub, through my lsd tranny and through the other hub on my swap (at ride height). my engine is tilted forward though.

Driving Impressions.

It's fine. you'll notice a difference from "traction bars" though. The car will still be fun to drive and you will feel no difference in your braking.

My friend had a 1993 Civic EX with USDM H22 I/H/E... at the same track, I need slicks to keep up with it. 14.30 (my hatch) vs. 14.32 (EX coupe).... that should tell you something about B vs. H.

i ran a 13.7 on 17s and low pros with a 2.0 60 foot on a 3500rpm launch and no traction bars. that run got me to 9.1 at the 1/8 mile.
later with a new tune and slicks i did an 8.5 in the 1/8 mile at a diff track. the traction bars were nice on the street or with street tires but with slicks i never saw a diff.

Our H22 EF motor mount kit maximizes ground clearance, axle aligment and engine weight distribution. The pro's over our kit over others is no firwall hitting, 1 custom axle over 2. Thick steel motor mounts stronger then aluminum. The high end quality and low price. To those who have my kits will vouche on the craftmanship and the quality.

My H22 EF has been trouble free since day one with no problems at all drives like it was built this way from the factory! It corners and handles just as good or even better then my B series EF I had. It's my daily driver and track car...

new h22a swap question: the hasport mount kit says i need to use a 92-96 prelude rear engine bracket.. i have one from a 98 lude will it work? also can i use a 98 lude shifter assembly with 92-96 cables???

i doubt that shifter will work with those cables, most of the time you have to match the cables and shifter.
as far as the 98 bracket, it may work, but what hasport is saying is they did not test it with anything but the 92-96 bracket.
