Default ICEMAN CAI ????????

I am thinking about getting an Iceman CAI, just because I wont have to deal with cutting anything on my 01 lude. What kind of power gains does the iceman give compared to say, AEM, Injen, etc?....I dont want either of those because I have to cut out a section in order for them to fit. I am basically doing it for the sound and a little bit of a power gain. Also, can you tell me how each intake differs? because everyone says "AEM is the best" etc.

Where is the cheapest place to get an Iceman CAI w/bipass valve?

iceman is a 2 piece intake, therefore it can be both short or cold. a bypass wouldnot work IMO with the plastic intake, but who knows?

From what I've heard, a bypass valve is unnessesary inless you submerge your intake in water. How ofter do you drive underwater, anyway?

True, you will probably never need your bypass valve, but for 45 bucks why risk a hydrolocked engine. If the icman is 2 parts you should be able to use a bypass valve as long as AEM makes it for the corect diameter pipe. when you say that you dont want to "cut" anything what are you reffering to? If you mean the hole that the tube goes though in order to leave the engine bay and be where you resonator used to be I understand that you can "adjust/bend" it slightly so that the tube passes though. thats my .02.

If you are afraid of hydrolocking I'd suggest using the Iceman, which is a 2 piece intake, a was mentioned above... in the rainy season run it as a short ram and in the non-rainy season run it as a CAI. I'd also suggest using the AEM if you don't get enough rain to submerge your front bumper. The bottom of the filter sits just above the plastic wheel well liner by the bumper and is about the same height as the bottom of the bumper, maybe plus an inch or two. You could also go with the bypass valve, but I doubt it will retrofit to an iceman so I'd just use it on the AEM if you want that "all the time" protection.

As far as the cutting thing... it was one of the easiest parts of the install. Removing the OEM resonator was a bitch of sorts and you would have to do that with either intake. I "cut" about 1/16" total extra width into the hole that the OEM resonator connected to the OEM airbox through. I ground it open with my dremel and then painted it with Rustoleum to protect the bare metal. It took about 5 minutes and is invisible. It doesn't at all look like a hack job. I've heard others metion that they just bent the edges of the hole up a bit to widen the passage. Either way, I'd not worry about the cutting need... It's very easy (especially relative to the rest of the install), looks like OEM work if you take some care, and I'd say I can still easily install the OEM parts without issue, even with the hole widened.

I gues I'm just partial to the AEM... either should do you good. The Iceman doesn't need the hole widened because it's not as wide, thus not making quite as much power in the top end... then again it's 2 piece so you can use it as a short ram or CAI, then again the AEM can use it's bypass valve, voiding the need for the 2 pieces... decisions, decisions...
