Anyone got a pic of a VSS (1992 Si)?
Ok, so I am at the last couple steps before I pull my old H23!! Anyone got a pic of the VSS, or approximate location? I think I unhooked the sensor, but it does not look like the dealer service manual pic...and it does not pull out like it supposedly should.
Where the paper towel is.
Just remove the 10mm bolt holding the entire vss assembly to the tranny and pull it out with ps lines still connected.
Another thread back from the dead...
Only thing really unfinished with my swap is that the speedo does not work at all. I remember when removing the VSS, the top came off, and I do not think it was supposed to. Speedo worked fine before the swap, but not now.
When the top came off, it did appear that it broke off....could that be the cause of my non-working speedo? Is the VSS the same for 92-up? I looked on honda-parts.net, but can't even find the VSS.....not under the tranny section, or shift linkage....
anyone help me out?

The VSS should be under the gauges or "combination meter" section on hondaautomotiveparts.com.
Inspect the wiring and wiring connectors very carefully also...

Here's a problem you could have. If you took the top part off accidentally, the little rod piece could have fallen out. Thats the piece needed to turn the sensor part. If thats not in there, it will not work. SO, take off your top piece, and see if its in there - if not, you need that little rod piece.
However, if it IS in there, u just need the little top piece with the connector. - assuming the shaft spins freely still.
