Default s4c transmission problem, check it out please

After my first transmission blew due to a hole getting knocked into, and spending 950 on a new transmission, i have yet another problem. I have a 99 si and i replaced the tranny with another s4c that has about 25k on it. One day im driving and some lady pushed me off the road, a look under my engine bay when i get home from school, and the top of the transmission mount in the front is shot. The whole top two bolts are gone. I went to go to the spot where i was pushed off the road and nothing is to be found. i was wondering what would be the best fix for this in my situation because i want this to get fixed before i do my swap. thanks for your help guys i really appreciate it.

I'm assuming you aren't getting a new tranny with your "swap."

Unfortunately, IMHO that transmission is toast. You could try and find a new case, and have the mainshaft and countershaft re-shimmed to work, but I wouldn't even bother. Structurally, that's a vital part of the tranny. I wouldn't feel safe having it welded over and then re-tapped.

Um, you said you were forced off the road. Be glad its only the transmission that's fucked. Like I said you can try finding another case but you're going to have to have the shafts re-shimmed.

You can simply get the new housing (you only need the outer half) and replace it, measure the diff for the shim youll need and get that too, and your done. You can find ppl selling tranny cases pretty often, it would be silly to toss this tranny simply because of a external problem.

EDIT: im not so sure how you feel about doing work by yourself, if you did want to to it, buy the Helm manual. If you dont feel comfortable, im sure you can bring your parts to a shop in your area and have them to it, its really not a hard job (ive done it 2 times this week)

you have to shim the differential so it has a certain amount of movement.

what?

don't listen to that guy...

just get a new transmission, but $950 is way too steep to be paying for one.
