B18c in a 91 CRX will the hood still close?
Ive seen people take a DOHC ZC Hood and cut the supports and it fit. Or even a stock hood and cut the supports. But you can also take your hood and vent it like an inch and it will give you the clearence you need plus it allows better air flow through your engine bay for a cooler running engine. If it is vented then it will run at about 1/4 on your temp guage, thats about half of what it will run with the hood stock. All you need to vent it is longer 10mm bolts and 1 in spacers to fit between the hood brackets and the hood...
If u have B16 engine hood will close. But i u have D series SOHC probably u will need hood from DOHC car (doesnt matters will it be from B or D series).
I have seen a CRX w/GSR on Hasport mounts. The hood shuts but it did develop a few dents from the inside where the valve cover is rocking up and banging the hood. One plan is to add 1/4 spacers on the driver and passenger mounts. The valve cover also has some wear mounts where it has been rubbing forward and back against the hood.

Same thing with me but no dents in the hood. What happend with me is the hood started rubbing the valve cover and now i have some nice "Fang Looking" marks on it. My hood was even washered up at the hinges (the hood hinges by the windshield) and this still happend. I just ended up cutting a few pieces of the underskeleton on the OEM hood til my JDM styled carbon fiber hood arrived. (made to fit usa front end crx's)

Where did you get the JDM style hood made to fit the usdm car? Sounds like this is a good option for me.

Please elaborate on how you got your stock hood to shut with a B18C. Did you cut your inside of the hood up, did you use washers where the hood mounts, and what mounts did you use?

just cut a little bit of webbing on the hood

Yeah but what mounts are you guys using? I'm hearing the EFB1 mounts won't work even if you cut the hood. I have the EFB1 mounts so I'm curious if I can use a stock hood.

I have the exact same marks on my valve cover. I´m using a CF ZC hood with cut out underskeleton , I even grinded away as much as I dared of the CF hood itself to get more clearance. I´m using Hasport mounts.
BTW , what kind of radiator are you using ? Is it a DA radiator (if so , how is does it fit) ?

Well, I heard the Hasports were supposed to be the shiznit, but apparantly some guys are still getting clearance issues with them. I myself am using some old school mounts that I don't even know the name of.

yep! Cuz the hood "puffs" up in the middle.
The only difference between JDM and USDM is the way the hood latches . The latches are different, so it's the same design, just built for the USDM latch.

And yes, the stock hood WILL close, also. But the back part of the valve cover will still rub the webbing. You'll end up basically having to cut out the entire middle portion of the OEM D-series CRX hood (thus leaving the thin sheet metal without support). I just thought the CF Hood looked cleaner

My radiator is a C&R radiator w/SPAL lightweight, super fast fan. It's made for the CRX. Fluidyne and Koyo are also GREAT products. A bit more blingy (shiny) than C&R. I just liked C&R cuz it came with the SPAL fan and it was good value.

Not flaming but you do know the headlights are differnt too? The "USDM SiR" hood is made for the small USDM headlights and latch and it "puffs up"
Putting a JDM hood on a USDM car will look like *** if you don't add the JDM headlights and bumper. That's why they make a USDM SiR hood.

I'm curious about this as well. Does anyone have a b18c motor in their crx with the efb2 mounts... whats my best hood option haha. Further up someone said that the new efb2 mounts set the motor well and there aren't any issues? Can anyone confirm this? Thanks so much!
