What am i doing wrong? Launching on Slicks
Setup
255whp Turbo (MIght be 300whp IF I EVER DYNO)
Omni Power Street Setup with upgrade steal collers
Full Race Bar
Hasport Race Mounts
Lenso with 24.5 13 inch slicks (NEW) Hoosiers
Luanching at 6400 i was spining the slicks real bad, after i was done spining it was in 3ed and i boged hella bad, thanks t3/t4 and had to downshift to 2ed gear + Im getting 2.6 60's times on slicks. that was with a 7200 redline (ouch)
now i got a 8200 redline pulls hard all the way till redline
I pull the e brake and did a 2ed gear burnout for a good 10 seconds in the water box as well
I have a higher redline from the last time at the track and like 4 more lb's
What should i be launching at?

what was the tire pressure on the slicks?
Also, sometimes you just have to adjust your driving style. don't floor the gas all the way, feather it so its not on full throttle and reduces the spin, once it catches, then you gas it until you have to shift.

How old are the slicks, I had a similar problems with slicks that were from the year before, not many passes on them they were just not stores over the winter properly
maby 6 months old i bought them new, i store then inside a airplane hanger storage bin in my backyard, they are sitting sideways

"burnout for a good 10 seconds in the water box"
By no means i'm not a pro .. but since i've been racing ..I've never done a burn out in the water box ... What you should do is either do a quick spin in the water box then align the slicks right in front of the waterbox in the "burnout box" then do your burnout. Thats just my 2 cents

it's the gap where u can put ur tires inside, is that the burnout box? thats where everyone else did there burnouts, i'm not thinking right
i think you are supposed to do a quick "spin" in the water box to coat the tire in water. Then you pull up out of the water box and do your full burnout. That's they way i was told to do it.
there has to be a whole lot going wrong on this one. i was getting much better 60 foots than that on my 18" racing hearts with junk street tires.
your def. running way too much air pressure. ive done numerous burn outs in the water, thats not your problem. sounds like you are over doing your burn out as well.
do you have a 2 step? how much boost are you building on it if so? try launching at a lower rpm. if it starts spining real bad left off the throttle a little bit.
i dont really know how to offer much more help on this one. no offense but with a 2.6 60 foot and DOWNSHIFTING going down the track.....im going to go ahead and say you just need some practice?

What's the point in doing a second gear burnout? Won't that mess up your tranny, why not just use 1rst gear. Isn't it about RPM not MPH?

It is the speed of the tire that heats it up. The faster, the more friction, kinda like sex...

my advice is launch lower and lower until no wheelspin. if you must rev higher to prevent bogging. never in no means get through third gear without traction and try downshifting.
dont just shift the car because the car got to the redline from spinning either back off the throttle slightly to let it build mph or let it ride the limiter till you feel its time to shift it. also like everyone else said use the water box only to wet them then drive up past it about a 2 or 3 feet then do the burn out there.
do you have a lsd?

What RPM should you let the clutch go in 2nd to get a good burnout. Also should you gradually let the clutch go, or just drop it and go full throttle?
