Well my problem is the transmission in my 91 DX is fubar'd and i have a 91 si parts car with a good transmission and a blown engine . Will the si transmission fit the 1.5l Dx engine and all bolt holes line up . Both cars are 5 speed hatches . Has anyone done this before and think they could give me some help ?

 

it will bolt right up. DX and Si trannies are the same except for the differential gearing, differential bearing size and speedo gears. it will bolt right up. you'll get a nice bit of added pep too using that Si tranny, they rock

 

it will work fine, you dont even need to change axles

 

thank you .. information is well apriciated ... is it possible to change the transmission without pulling the engine out of the car ? .... which way is easier to change the transmission

 

yeah just pull both axles. remove the clutch cable, shift linkage, trans mount and anything attached to the trans. then put a jack under the trans and unbolt the 17 mm head bolts holding it to the block, and lower. oh and dont forget the flywheel cover on the bottom. there are 2-3 10 mm bolts underneath, ull see it. and install is reverse of removal. might wanna grab a manual thou, as i might have left something out. hope this helps. gl
