B16A or B18B?????
I cant decide which to get--- either a civic with a B18B already in, or get one of the cheaper SOHC ones with a Dseries an swap a B16A (VTec) in......
the car will be N/A.. costs waaaaay to much to boost here in South Africa...

If you have to pic between the two, I'd go with the B16 if you're going to go all motor. Theres alot more aftermarket support in the all motor department for the B16A.

yeah. if your going all motor get the b16. the whole reason for a b18b (ls) motor is to boost. it has low compression and is strong. but since u cant boost. go b16. i put a b16 in my 1992 cx hatch back and it runs 13's. but thats on a 100 shot with NO and i mean NO bolt ons. besides intake and exaust with stock header. so u should not be disapointed.

Hey i own a 95 hatch with a 97 b18b1 in it with intake exhaust and headers and i will mop any hatch with a stock b16 tourqe is b-e-a-utiful its spin my stock 13's in the top of 1st gear and partly spins 2nd as well with no interior you'll run about 14.7 with that setup
I ran a coupe with a B18b/ls tranny + bolt ons against my B16 coupe/ ls tranny + exhaust... i pulled instantly from a stop and a roll... just something to think about

i concur..... i have a b16a eg with i/h/e and i have beat every ls hatch i have ever race cars lengths. With the b16 you just have to learn how to drive it to get the most out its potential. jdm b16's came with 170 hp 113 tq to the crank with a short geared tranny vs the b18b's 142 hp and 127 tq with the longest geared tranny honda ever made for a b series..

Intake and Exhaust aren't bolt ons now?

i think people that claim ls are faster just say that cuz they didn't want to fork the extra over for the 16, theres a reason why there more expensive and why they came stock in civics compaired to the ls, not knocking it, but i honestly haven't ever seen a ls that could walk my civic, what ever you pick, just have fun with it, theres no bad dohc

cant decide...
