JDM cars, chassis numbers different???

I am contemplating buying a del Sol from Japan. But I looked for EH6, couldn't find one anywhere. I am not even sure if it is an EH6 in the U.S. either, but mine here in Germany is an EH6. So, I guess the question is, when lookin for one in Japan, what would the number be?? I know it's kind of a stupid question, but I have no idea. Thanks for any help provided.
